Editor Stephen Fortner is a far bigger Hammond-head than I am, and having spent time with a Reface YC, he opined, “The B-3 and Leslie emulation are way better than I expected. Maybe a notch under a current top-end clonewheel, but just a notch. I’d totally gig with this.”

MOBILE MINI KEYBOARD Owner’s Manual EN - Yamaha

The Yamaha Reface CP is the combo piano in the Reface line. Of the four, it’s the least ‘synthy’, but also one of the most rewarding to play. As producers, you struggle to get inspired if you're using the same thing. A lot of times, a piece of analogue gear can break you out of that rut" – Shaun Lopez on crafting synth sounds for the long-awaited second album from Crosses A slider balances the effect of the envelope generator between the filter and amplifier, although its behaviour takes a little getting used to. As far as I can tell, moving the slider towards its maximum lowers the filter’s cutoff frequency, presumably so the envelope will have an effect even when the filter is wide open. Either way, you’re given a variety of handy envelope effects from the minimum of controls, which was surely the idea.John, Preshan (1 November 2015). Asthe slider is moved upwards, the more influence the Envelope has on the Filter. In the middle position the effect on Filter and Amplitude is the same. Overall, very pleased with this instrument and its features from a home practice, live and studio perspective. The speakers will still be engaged if you connect cables to the L/Mono and R Outputs. If you want to disable the speakers, do this:

The phaser/chorus section is another either-or proposition, but that’s fine since adding both to an instrument tends to make things muddy. Here the chorus has a real richness with a lot of stereo width. The phaser is also gorgeous when paired with certain pianos, notably the Rhodes Mk. 1 for that trademark Steely Dan sound.Yamaha's Reface mini keyboards put classic sounds in compact instruments". This is handy for impromptu jam sessions or recording your improvisations, sketchpad-style. Unfortunately, there’s no way to offload these sketches to your computer via USB, so if you accidentally write the next Taylor Swift hit while you’re doodling around, you’ll have to record the resulting sequence as audio to your DAW (aided by the fact that the CS doessync to external MIDI tempo) before powering down. Thanks to its maturecircuitry, thesound is warm and rich and has all the artefacts and intricacies of the original. Thesounds available on the CP offer many of the bread n' butter, basic go to sounds for a keyboard player.Connected to all these sounds is a drive knob that has a different amp model that matches depending on what patch you have chosen. As a Combo Piano, the reface CP offers six classical keyboard sounds with excellent quality thanks to SCM (Spectral Component Modelling) and AWM2 sound generation. Each keyboard type matches a carefully chosen Drive and Tremolo setting to provide an incredibly musical pairing You can use the Drive, Reverb, and one effect each from the three pairs of effects simultaneously for a total of five effects.Credit is provided by a panel of lenders with whom we have a commercial relationship (so we cannot provide independent advice). On board effects are great. The reverb is deep, you have two types of delay (analog / digital), the chorus and phasers are deep immersive, and the tremolo and wah are very responsive. Aux In. Insert a stereo 1/8-inch TRS cable as an input from an external music player so you can play along on the reface through headphones or the built-in speakers.

It handled well in all these circumstances and it delivered great sounds and easily customizable parameters. Effects. The five effects are in series: Overdrive into a tremolo/wah unit followed by a chorus/phaser, then a delay followed by a reverb. The Yamaha Strap Attachment Kit for reface enables you to attach a guitar strap and play any model reface like a keytar.

With the reface CP, you can connect a sustain pedal, either a Yamaha FC4A or FC5 footswitch or another brand of momentary footswitch. You can also use the Yamaha FC3A, which adds a half-damper control for more expressive playing. Reface CS - a virtual analogue synthesiser inspired by Yamaha's CS-80 syntheseser. [9] It is capable of standard subtractive synthesis as well as frequency modulation (FM), ring modulation and oscillator sync. The CS has a maximum polyphony of eight notes and also includes an effects section consisting of delay, phaser, chorus and distortion. [12] The way I see it it really doesn’t matter, lots of critics are paid in some way to review any product. I highly recommend this product! The sounds are amazing for the price. 10-15 years ago this quality of modelling wouldn't be found even in the most expensive hi-end keyboards.
