Description

Cobra Beer is an Indian beer brand manufactured in the United Kingdom. The group's primary product is a premium beer with an alcohol strength of 4.5% by volume (originally 4.8%). The beer was founded in 1989 by Karan Bilimoria [1] and Arjun Reddy. [1] A blend of water, malted barley, yeast, rice, maize wheat and three varieties of hops is used to produce the required characteristics. [1]The bottled version in the UK also contains sugar in its ingredients list.

Retrieved 27 November 2014.Today though we’re the biggest Indian beer brand outside of India, and the most well-known Indian consumer brand in the UK by far – so I think I can say that we’ve done okay.” When that first shipment of beer came over from Bangalore, I sent half of it up to a distributor in Newcastle to go to restaurants there. The second half was meant to go to a distributor in London, who at the time worked with two of the top Czech beer brands. But she rejected the batch because, according to her, it was a little too hazy – so we were landed with it to sell ourselves, without actually having any customers.

Cambridge was where I came up with the idea for Cobra Beer,” he said. “I’ve always been a big beer lover, which makes me typical of a lot of entrepreneurs, in that usually your ideas come from either your love for something or your hatred of it. Stouts – Made famous across the world by Guinness, stouts are also a mainstay on the global craft-brewing scene these days. Always marked out by their dark colour, stouts use roasted malts to impart their characteristic colour and have a strong flavour. Nowadays, they are surprisingly diverse, with Imperial stouts, oatmeal stouts, chocolate stouts, oyster stouts, milk stouts and porters vying for attention. Be warned though – stouts tend to be at the stronger end of the spectrum in terms of alcohol content as well as flavour. Although originally intended to be named 'Panther', the name was changed to 'Cobra' when a focus group found the latter more appealing. The first shipment of Cobra was imported to the UK from the Bangalore-based Mysore Brewery in 1990, at the start of the early 1990s recession, [1] however, large consumer demand and increased import costs prompted Bilimoria to move production to the United Kingdom in the mid-1990s. [6] As of November 2014, Cobra had a market share of over 45% of all licensed Indian restaurants within the United Kingdom. [13] Products [ edit ]a b "Molson Coors buys 51% stake in Cobra". Those are the three main ingredients, whether you are talking about Bud Light or a Belgian Trappist beer. Most of the time, brewers will also add hops – a kind of fruit which adds zing and zest to beers. Pilsner – Developed in what is now the Czech Republic, Pilsners are really another form of lager, but with a twist. They are much more heavily hopped than most northern European lagers, often giving them sharper, floral flavours that many drinkers adore.
