Even when he does that it doesn't really focus on the alcoholism, which would of been nice to explore.

The alcoholism aspect of Tony Stark's character will play a bigger role in later tales - here the serious breakdown and recovery only takes one issue. This story is coming at the mid to late point of The Bronze Age of Comic Books where the focus on real-life social issues was very much in-play and this story uses Tony Stark as a commentary on alcohol addiction.Doubtful, but knowing they can't fight him, the police let him go but demand that Stark turn over his armor for inspection, and Stark complies.

This is one of the most famous Iron Man stories ever written for many people and the crazy thing is that the thing it is most known for and justly remembered for stays in the background until the superheroics is out of the way.In the earlier issues, the subject was kind of brushed under the rug besides a few serious comments here or there.

By the beginning of the 21st century, Tony had been sober for years, a fact that Scarlet Witch preyed on during Avengers Dissambled (2004) in which she manipulated Stark’s mind to make him feel and act inebriated, which immediately concerned his fellow Avengers. Favreau said that elements of the story would be used in future Iron Man sequels: "I don't think we'll ever do the Leaving Las Vegas version, but it will be dealt with. With the help of Bethany he understands that he's addicted to alcohol and he tries to overcome his addiction. This book however, is seven issues of Iron Man dealing with Justin Hammer and some super villains, getting stressed, having a drink once or twice, and then going full alcoholic in one issue. Beth admits that she was younger, and didn't try to understand his insecurities, but now she's grown and will not abandon Stark like she abandoned Alex. This is a sort of last hurrah of sorts for the original incarnations of Blizzard and Melter, as both would only make a few more appearances after this storyline before being unceremoniously killed off.

When comics readers think of Tony Stark, they think of him as a brilliant inventor, an Avenger, and. Coincidentally, Namor is also there and he has been saved by the only inhabitant of the island, a man who left the big city with his wife, to live in this island by themselves. Demon in the Bottle" was one of his best Iron Man stories that pits Iron Man against his drinking problems.

That last factor has become such an integral part of the character’s identity many would believe it was there from the beginning. Iron Man's greatest enemy here isn't the guy who tries to control his suit, nor are the super villains who attack him. There are some parts that are good but overall it just feels like a bloated mess, Tony isn't really an alcoholic throughout the whole thing. Stark is visiting a casino with Bethany Cabe when Blizzard, the Melter, and Whiplash arrive and attempt to rob the casino's vault.
