So they already have to withstand a lot of pressure. When you add to that a female driver is going to attract far more attention, potentially far more criticism, then that requires, again, another level of determination. And that's what I think our drivers have. And I see it in them.

For every high that you have in motorsport, there's probably about 10 or 15 low moments as well. You've got to be, when you get to the circuit, even before you get to the circuit, you've got to be ready to expect anything that could happen.

World champion Max Verstappen is firmly under contract for the future, although Dr Helmut Marko recently admitted that an exit clause could be triggered by the Dutchman "if we experience a 'crash' like in 2014". Some people don't even count motor racing as a sport. But it absolutely is. The driver is out there. It's a very high pressure environment. Formula 1 cars use 1.6 liter four-stroke turbocharged 90 degree V6 double-overhead camshaft (DOHC) reciprocating engines. They were introduced in 2014 and have been developed over the subsequent seasons. How Formula 1 Engine Work? The top ten drivers in each F1 race receive points —the winner gets 25, the second-place driver gets 18, and amounts decline further, according to Motorsport magazine. The driver with the fastest lap during the race gets an extra point. Rodin Carlin is quite a well-established team. It's one of the top junior teams in the world. We kind of pride ourselves on forming the ladder. Basically we're taking drivers from karting to the door of Formula One. A few noticeable names that have passed through our doors would be Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz Jr, more recently Lando Norris and Logan Sargeant.

AWD systems require all wheels to be the same size, which would reduce the cornering ability of F1 cars that have larger rear wheels and smaller front wheels for optimal steering and power transfer. The turbocharged hybrid engine can produce up to 910 horsepower (680 kW) from its combined power sources. Are Formula 1 Cars Electric? Ultimately, to be successful in motorsport, you need to have a very competitive nature. You need to be very determined. You need to like the adrenaline and the pressure that comes with competing. Networking is a huge thing. Takes up tons of time. If I'm not racing on a race weekend of my own, I'll normally be at a different race weekend networking somewhere in the UK. So yeah, it's a full-time job away from the racing as a full-time job.Eight minutes was all it took. Eight minutes for the entire race weekend to be thrown into jeopardy... and all because of a loose drain cover on Las Vegas Boulevard. At the end of the day, it's not just girls in the F1 Academy that get there. It's the 10-year-olds watching, or eight-year-olds watching that are inspired to jump into a go-kart to then progress through the ladder. And in 20 years' time then they will be at that age where they're looking to go and make that step into Formula One. And it's so important to inspire the young generations and get them in early and open up that avenue and opportunity to them early on.

Formula 1 cars also use a hybrid system that combines the gasoline engine with two electric motor-generator units: one connected to the turbocharger (MGU-H) and one connected to the crankshaft (MGU-K). Since titanium aluminide was banned, Cosworth has resorted to a more common titanium alloy for the valves, with solid-stemmed inlets and hollow, sodium-filled exhausts for extra cooling. A turbocharger is a device that uses exhaust gases to spin a compressor that feeds more air and fuel into the engine’s cylinders. This increases the power and efficiency of the engine2. The electric motor-generator units and the energy store are not used to power the car independently of the gasoline engine. The hybrid power unit, which combines a turbocharged V6 engine with two electric motor-generator units that can provide extra power and recover energy from braking and exhaust gas. The inner surfaces of the ports are accurately machined and, despite the engine freeze, builders are allowed to modify them freely, but only outside the confines of the homologated casting. So moving other components within the head or changing the shape of the casting is not allowed. However, with this in mind, Cosworth took a typically creative route, as Jilbert points out: ‘One of the things that did change when we went to the CA is that we only have a very small section of the port in the cylinder head. This allows us to do quite a lot of development work on the port, especially for this engine freeze, so you have got a short length in the head, but the barrel housings are free and the trumpets are free, so you can change all that legitimately.’
