We do offer all the team this option, it is not only a green transport option, it’s a healthy one too! We had haveuptake on this too! Remus House is an old building and has had some upgrades to help it become more energy efficient, this includes double glazed windows, LED sensor lights & reduced night shifts. Lexi Griffiths, who attends Ysgol Cae Top, entered a national competition and her poem has been chosen for publication in a book called The Big Green Poetry Machine, which showcases young writer’s work.

Get your whole school engaged with caring for the environment and creating a better world for their future by writing a poem and giving their young voices a chance to be heard. This contest is now closed. The Big Green Poetry Machine All Ages Years & helping kids grow into confident writers! Lexi has lived her whole life in Bangor, as well as 5 generations previously. She is very proud of her hometown and often worries about the effect of the amount of litter that’s always around. She is passionate about learning, gymnastics and Tik Tok!Pupils were invited to write a poem inspired by the environment and nature, from wildlife and conservation to climate change and more. School pupils nationwide have celebrated planet earth as well as writing some thought-provoking environmental pieces. We also have a print wastage system in our Production department. Sometimes a book is printed incorrectly, but we always investigate what went wrong & fix the source to reduce future wastage

Our interest in helping the environment doesn’t stop at encouraging kids to become eco poets and win an eco-friendly prize! Here is how Young Writers helps the environment already, plus how we’d like to improve to ensure we are doing all we can to be green: By Lynsey | Environment We launched The Big Green Poetry Machine in January 2023 to help teachers support the focus on climate change in education. Both presses are made by international companies who work in an environmentally-friendly manner. This includes reducing emissions & waste as well having a recycling program for toner/ink bottles and producing annual sustainability reports.

Lexi’s poem entitled ‘I’ve Had Enough’ which reflects her personal thoughts on the environment and its issues, will now be featured in the new book The Big Green Poetry Machine – Green Poets, and a copy of the book will remain in the National Archives forever. The competition organisers have also written to the school and sent a certificate to mark Lexi’s achievement. Poems can be in any style and link to the environment in many cross-curricular ways, from litter, pollution and wildlife, to sustainability, conservation or exploring nature & local landscapes. Our team can work from home and do where possible. This decreases car emissions to work & reduces printing as work is accessed electronically. The online resources offer 4 x idea generation activities, a word bank and lesson plan. The student info guide, video, and graphic organizer also make this a great independent learning activity. There's a PowerPoint presentation or use the Google Slide version instead!

Lexi’s auntie Lisa-Marie Edwards said: “We are over the moon with this achievement and the positive light it shines on Lexi, her school and Bangor itself.” Young Writers invited primary school pupils between the age of 5-11, to be part of their latest poetry competition. They have been running competitions with primary schools across the UK to promote poetry and creative writing since 1991, with the aim of inspiring children everywhere to become confident and passionate writers. It’s a fantastic opportunity for your students to share their thoughts on the world around them & for you to introduce this subject with ready-made resources. Your students can become eco poets and help to share views about nature and the environment with The Big Green Poetry Machine! We use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved paper suppliers. The FSC manage the sustainability of virgin paper production worldwide as currently the demand for paper is higher than the ability to recycle it. FSC take care of forests, employees and the wildlife who call them home. FSC paper is produced from responsibly sourced wood, this means that all of the paper we use has either been recycled or sourced from well-managed accredited forests.
