While the FS800 certainly isn’t a parlor guitar, and its scale length remains unchanged, we feel it would be better suited to players of smaller stature who don’t want to wrangle a full-sized dreadnought . If you're looking for an affordable, entry-level guitar that's uniquely suited to folk music, the Yamaha FG800 offers an attractive choice. It's often hard to find an entry-level guitar with a rich sound. After all, manufacturers have to cut corners somewhere when it comes to price, and all too often, those corners are cut where they shouldn't be: the prevalence of laminate-top beginner acoustics and poorly-made tuners are two glaring examples. We found that a nut width of 43mm made both guitars hold a relative middle ground in terms of working for various playing styles. My biggest complaint with Yamahas is that they tend to have a very high action. Some people prefer a higher action so this is partially personal preference but I definitely prefer a lower action.

Like I said above too high for my tastes. This is something that can be adjusted. If you like this guitar (and it’s price!) but you want a lower action it’s worth spending a little bit to get it set up lower – or if you know how to lower it yourself. Nut Width Great electrics including a system 66 feature, 3-band EQ under saddle piezo, and adjustable frequency controls for the low to mid-range. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offeredEven Yamaha’s lower priced guitars tend to have reasonable tone – and the FG800 is no exception. It has Yamaha’s typical nice even tone. It’s nothing exciting or unique but it’s solid and balanced. Has some nice features such as cream plastic binding that result in a nice-looking guitar (though admittedly these are purely cosmetic). Ultimately, determining what you require in terms of tonality and what you are willing to endure in terms of body size will make the choice clear .

At the same time, it is subjected to vigorous strumming with a plectrum ensuring that no matter which model you choose, it will also look great both on stage and in the studio for years to come. Great projection, especially when compared to guitars with a similar design but a higher price tag. If you're like most people shopping for an entry-level acoustic, your primary goal is to get something easy to learn on without breaking the bank. And while most beginner guitars won't have the dazzling sound of a professional-grade instrument, something that sounds decent is often much more rewarding to play. It's possible to find a beginner guitar that sounds good, but it may take some looking. Rich, loud, distinctive. The Yamaha FG800 features newly developed scalloped bracing. This specific type of bracing reinforces the FG800's top. Giving it the strength and durability to stay with you for a lifetime. Not only does it prevent your acoustic from collapsing under string tension, but it enhances the overall sound too. Yamaha's painstaking process and meticulous attention to detail has brought the best of the FG800 out. It's louder, with a richer, stronger sound. From the low to mid-ranges, your instrument is full, and beautifully balanced. Specifications Body & Bridge Now that we have taken the time to highlight the differences and similarities between both instruments, how do they compare when pitted against each other head-to-head?The solid top and large dreadnought body deliver a rich, full-bodied tone usually reserved for more expensive instruments. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better quality guitar with these specs at a better price. That’s why the Yamaha FG800 has to be one of our favorite beginner acoustics out there right now. Yamaha FG800 Specifications

While it's always a good idea to also do your research as you shop for guitars, the available information is sometimes overwhelming, especially if you're just starting. Here, we've gathered some of the critical features and benefits of the Yamaha FG800 Acoustic guitar. Sound Quality And Tonewoods Sound projection isn’t as strong as in the Dreadnaught FG800 model, though it does stand up well against other guitars.

FG800 Series

As a manufacturer, this is a great decision on their behalf as it appeases people who are partial to both without leaving either contingent out. They could achieve even better tone, in my opinion, if they used something better than plastic for the saddle and nut. But this is something that you can replace.

This is great as the tuning keys are generally the first piece of hardware to get thrown into the fire when manufacturers decide to keep costs down on an acoustic guitar. Otherwise the playability of this guitar is pretty good, and this guitar is actually one of the best acoustic guitars for beginners. Action Either is a fantastic choice for the beginner to the intermediate player. It would serve its purpose valiantly for years without concern for longevity or build quality. Perfect for new, developing, and seasoned players on a budget. The FG Series offers high-quality instruments with great tone and playability. Yamaha's legendary quality control ensures that the guitar is setup to the same specifications as their high-end instruments. An outstanding playing experience with an affordable price tag. Improve and develop your skills with Yamaha's solid top acoustic guitar. Sound that just keeps giving Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faultyThere seems to be some difference in the quality of accessories, such as the guitar strap, which reviewers say are nowhere near as good as the guitar itself. The bridge and fretboard were both made from walnut, which is a wood that is seeing a lot more use, even in high end models. The grain on the fretboard looked good, and was nice and tight, with no deep pores. We loved the rounded fretboard edges, too, they significantly added to the comfort and playability, and we found ourselves wishing other manufacturers at this price point would do the same.
