I found an article online that they don’t use any animal products nor test on animals, which makes the brand vegan and cruelty-free. The aloe bar soothes and moisturizes your skin while shaving, which is why I kind of wish it completely surrounded the razor blades. The overall design is more arched so I was able to access the hard-to-reach spots much easier, but it definitely looks pretty similar to crappy disposable razors so I initially doubted its capabilities.

I was really happy with the Billie razor, but curious about this other brand I’d heard a lot about, Flamingo. The Flamingo women’s razor features a flexible hinge designed to hug every curve and help you reach hard-to-shave areas. I would say that with normal razors that would definitely be true, I think I changed them more often due to them being not sharp anymore. It was thicker than expected, so I had to actually follow instructions to only use a small amount (the size of a dime). I’ll admit that I love the convenience of my little Venus travel razor and will continue to use that until Billie creates their own version; I guess I’ll still be paying the “pink tax” on Venus razors every once in a while, but hopefully not for long!Medik8 Daily Radiance Vitamin C is here to flick the switch and turn your complexion into a glow others can only aspire to achieve. The way that the blades are angled and the “stacking” distance (lol – very technical terms 😂), the area surrounding the blades on the head with the charcoal shave soap, and the overall design are what I think sets the Billie apart. These 5 blade German engineered razors are manufactured to the same standard as men's blades, built from quality Swedish steel coupled with the latest in shaving technology. It's annoying and time-consuming, but I've been doing it long enough to quietly nod and accept my fate every time I need to break my razor out.I couldn’t wait to upgrade from my crappy disposable razors to one that offered a pivoting head with moisture strips surrounding the blades! It lasts really long but is never too heavy and can be combined with so many different other scents. I went back and forth so many times over the past months trying to decide which one was my favorite, and I think I finally have! While I don’t suggest you try that unless you’re in a bind, I really wanted to put these razors to the test and I figured that was a great way to do so!

I haven’t talked about the look and feel of the product yet, which is also spectacular in my opinion.Though it is possible to mitigate these effects by using lukewarm water and shaving in the direction of hair growth, having the right razor is the first step to feeling confident when shaving. I do like that the handle has some weight to it, which makes it a bit easier to hold/less slippery when shaving my legs in the shower. When I started this experiment I couldn’t imagine any company being able to offer (a) better razor blades, (b) a better shaving experience, but for the overall cost savings I felt that other options were worth exploring.

I also noticed that the moisture strip on the Venus Extra Smooth heads dry up rapidly after the first shave so they’re less comfortable and, well, smooth. The Venus handle model that I have has a flexible head on it, but I still [infrequently] manage to cut myself on the backs of my knees somehow? I never considered this, but a hair removal tool like razors needs to be doing the job without being uncomfortable. It’s tough to gauge hair growth speed… that varies so much person to person, depending on your diet and so many other things.The coating on the razors isn’t sticky or too much at all, they’re sharp and precise and super lightweight! While it is amazingly slippery and lets you run your razor over your face without replication, it rinses easily off, leaving your skin feeling super clean. Admittedly, it was exciting to try a new razor, and unlike with my past razors, the excitement didn't die down with each subsequent use, because my Flamingo razor continued to do a pain-free, efficient job through multiple shaving sessions.
