Description

Breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months of a baby’s life. However, this isn’t always possible for everyone and so many parents choose a formula for their baby. Before giving a formula to your baby for the first time, or when switching to a different formula, it’s best to get the advice of a midwife or GP to help feed your baby and to keep them as safe and healthy as possible. This advice goes for all formulas in our roundup below. Baby formula does not provide the same benefits as breast milk for mum and baby: this can protect against infections and help reduce the likelihood of diseases in both mother and child. As we mentioned earlier, Aptamil provides you with a range of different formulas for the different ages of your baby. Here are some of their products: Aptamil 6 to 12 months: This one is for older babies starting from 6 months, and it’s very helpful in complementing the weaning process.

Although most follow-on formulas, apart from HiPP Organic, provide a similar amount of calcium to cow's milk per 100ml, they are all higher in sugar and more expensive. Higher levels of sugar can encourage a preference for sweet foods and in the long-term can lead to dental cavities. Aptamil milk from birth: This first type of formula milk is suitable for your baby, if he/she is not breastfeeding or if you’re on combination feeding. Clean bottles and teats thoroughly: You should wash bottles, teats and other feeding equipment in hot, soapy water. Then rinse them with running water, after which they are ready to be sterilised.

This formula is suitable for babies who are lactose intolerant. This means they cannot absorb lactose, which is a sugar that's naturally in milk and dairy products.

Approx. age: Up to 2 weeks; Approx. weight: 3.5kg, 7 3/4lb; No. of level scoops per feed (1 scoop = 4.6g): 3; Quantity of water per feed: 90ml, 3fl.oz; No. of feeds per 24 hours: 6 Your toddler should meet all their nutritional needs through the food they eat and a multivitamin drop that contains vitamins A, C and D as recommended by the government, not through expensive fortified milks.Lactose intolerance occurs when your body cannot digest lactose, a natural sugar found in milk and dairy products. It's often temporary and can occur in your baby's first few months until their levels of lactase (the enzyme that digests lactose) have become fully established. Whole cows' milk is a suitable choice as a main drink for your child from age 1. Semi-skimmed cows' milk is a suitable main drink for children over 2 who are eating a balanced diet. Types of milk to avoid At the end of a review, in the key details section, we provide a snapshot of each product. This includes the type of formula, specific ingredients it contains, whether or not it’s suitable for vegetarians or vegans, and any other notable details of which you should be aware. Happy Family Organics: We are on a mission to change the trajectory of children's health through nutrition; We provide age and stage appropriate premium organic food products for baby, tot, kid, and mama In addition to infant formula and follow-on formula, there are a number of other baby formulas on the market that supposedly deal with specific conditions.
