Description

The seat is adequately padded, with an unusual shape that slopes toward its center. The seat post is short for my 6’0″ frame and caused me some discomfort while pedaling. Most people will buy a DYU D3F for its compactness and portability. This bike becomes more compact when you drop the handlebars allowing you to squeeze it into tight spaces, helped by the integrated handle. e-Scooters (electric scooters) can currently only be ridden on private land with the land owners permisson. It is currently illegal to ride e-Scooters on public roads, pavements, bike lanes and pedestrian zones. All e-Scooters are sold under the premise these laws will be followed as laied out in our terms of use.

The D3F has a reasonably bright headlight that is pretty good in low-light conditions. But, you may want to supplement it with a brighter one on the handlebars or mount one to your helmet if you’re going to do lots of riding at night. There’s also a tail light to enhance your safety when riding on the road in the dark, although this is battery-powered, and you need to fit it yourself. Though we can’t compare the results, we did put the D3F through the test and got an average stopping distance of 6-feet 11-inches, which is a very short distance. Considering the max speed, that likely indicates these brakes are plenty powerful. The compactness makes the DYU D3F quite wobbly. This is why we said the top speed of 15.5 mph is fast enough. However, the small wheels give this bike low gearing, making climbing small hills surprisingly spritely. Still, you may want to avoid cobbles and potholes, as they will feel much larger than they would on an electric bike with larger wheels. The brakes are mechanical disk brakes, and an important note here is that the set on our review bike arrived reversed with the left hand lever operating the rear brake and the right lever operating the front brake. The D3F is a single-speed bike, so it doesn’t have a derailleur. This means that it performs best on flat-ish roads. So, if you live in a hilly area, you’d be better off with a more powerful electric bike with gears.

Contact Points

The bike has a single-speed drivetrain and a short crankset. It’s a tough pedal at low speeds, and at high speeds it has an uncomfortably fast cadence. The single gear does not climb well, so the drivetrain really leaves a lot to be desired. Both these failures happened with me riding the bike, a full-grown 170 lb adult male. But, considering this is an e-bike that’ll often be used by kids, we had our Junior Test Rider take a third run at Hell Hole to see what would happen with a smaller, lighter human at the controls. Amazingly, the DYU cleared the hill with ease.

Specifikace DYU D3F Motor The battery is integrated into the frame. This means that you will not be able to remove it to charge or replace it. You also will not have the option to bring a second battery along for a ride. The entire unit will need to be replaced, should it suffer an issue. This is inconvenient and not as practical as having a removable battery. The D3F is a compact, lightweight electric bike with tiny wheels. It is different from other electric bikes on the market due to its eye-catching looks and incredible compactness. And that’s about it. The gist of this bike is it’s very cheap, very small and very simple. None of those facts make this a bad e-bike by any means, but it is important to keep all of them in mind when buying. This bike is for fun, and in that sense it does a great job. The motor isn’t the best for hill climbing but on a flat surface it has no problem cruising at 12-13 mph.

After a couple of rides, you’ll learn how to get the best out of the D3F and begin to enjoy its agile handling and tight turning circle. We like how solid this electric bike feels in terms of build quality. This is a relief after seeing it in pictures, as you could easily mistake it for a toy rather than a serious option for an electric bike. How we normally conduct our brake tests is we bring the bike up to 20 mph five times and stop as hard as possible, taking the average stopping distance. But, considering the bike’s max speed of 15.5 mph and low gearing, we can’t get the DYU going fast enough — so no brake comparison for the DYU. Its compactness means you can take it anywhere, so it’s ideal for “last mile” commutes, day trips and weekend fun. It would make an excellent addition to your caravan or boat, as long as you’re not visiting somewhere too hilly. When it comes to efficient urban mobility, the DYU D3F Folding E-Bike yields to none. The harmonious fusion of its lightweight aluminium frame and compact dimensions attests to a design ethos that centers on user convenience. This e-bike is more than capable of weaving through bustling city streets, as well as unveiling suburban secrets over the weekend.I think it goes without saying that the DYU D3F is a weird little e-bike. We’ve come to call it the “clown car” bike because our testers — especially me at a lanky 6’1” — look a bit ridiculous when riding it. The brakes also have cut-off switches built into the levers. This means that when you brake, the motor automatically switches off, shortening your stopping distances, which is a welcome safety feature. The bike looks a little odd, and the first ride has a similar vibe, switching between childish fun and the slightly awkward feeling that accompanies riding an undersized bike. At least for me, at 6’0”, the fit is less than ideal, yet somehow manageable for short periods. If the DYU D3F can really go 30+ miles, the range test is going to be a tough one! So in a nutshell, the D3F seems like a great toy e-bike. Plus, for short-range or mixed commuting with a lower weight and general profile, its mobility is increased. So, is it a toy? Or could it be of some use to budget-minded commuters? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons and find out more. The simplicity and well-thought-out design of the D3F make it easy to live with. But you need to be realistic about its capabilities. This bike will not take you over rugged terrain and cross country; it’s for nipping about and making short journeys without your car. Because of the bike’s tiny size, I personally think most people are going to be zipping around on the throttle and only pedaling to get up to speed and to help the motor up hills. That’s what I did, at least.

Normally in this section we’ve got a big chart comparing how the braking power of the e-bike being reviewed compares to the braking power of all the other e-bikes we’ve reviewed. The combination of a long stem, straight narrow handlebars, and a small 14” wheelset makes this bike very twitchy to steer, with small movements resulting in big responses. These small wheels are not very comfortable at speed. It feels like you’re riding a shrunken little unit, and I was thankful the thing tops out at 15.5 mph. At speed, I prefer a mini e-bike with a larger wheelset. So be careful riding the DYU D3F! Overall, the handling lends itself more to being a child’s toy than a true e-bike. The display on the DYU D3F has a clean and simple look. The screen is easy to see and read, even in direct sunlight, and it features intuitive controls. There’s a button located on the left to switch the bike on, while the right-hand button switches the cadence sensor on and off. Today, we are looking at a mini electric bike that is small in size and relatively light on your wallet. It’s the DYU D3F Mini Folding Electric Bike. At about half the cost of a full-size budget e-bike, it could be considered affordable by some. I’m skeptical as to whether this little thing can live up to the claims made by DYU, which include:

Portability is another strength of the DYU D3F. Weighing just 38 pounds and equipped with a folding handlepost and grab handle, this Electric bike is exceptionally easy to transport. Whether you need to take it on public transportation or store it in a tight space, the DYU D3F’s compact design ensures that it won’t be a burden. Its lightweight nature makes it an ideal choice for urban commuters and individuals who frequently need to carry their bikes. Let’s take a closer look at the electrical specifications and features of the DYU D3F. It is equipped with a 36V, 10Ah (360Wh) battery, providing ample power for extended rides. The LED display allows riders to monitor essential information such as battery life, speed, and distance traveled. The 240W rear hub motor delivers efficient and reliable performance. For enhanced safety, the DYU D3F includes both a headlight and taillights, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions. The pedal assist system, with one level of assistance controlled by a cadence sensor, offers a user-friendly and intuitive riding experience. Additionally, a throttle is included for moments when riders prefer to rely solely on motor power. The DYU D3F Smart Ebike revolutionises daily travel in a way you never thought possible. Picture yourself gliding effortlessly through the bustling city streets or cruising leisurely through picturesque suburban lanes – this is the reality the DYU D3F makes possible. This compact, folding e-bike is a versatile accomplice that satiates your diverse commuting needs. The DYU D3F’s ease of use starts when it arrives. Due to its small size, DYU doesn’t have to break it down into a thousand pieces to ship. The result is a fast assembly that should have you riding in no less than 10 minutes, as long as your battery is charged. The DYU rolls on a set of 14 inch wheels and is powered by a 240W rear hub motor and a surprisingly large 36V, 10Ah (360Wh) battery nested inside the front triangle of the frame.
