Even though, from a spin and control perspective, it was definitely a notch down from the best premium golf balls, the performance was still solid. The 2022 version of the RBZ Soft is a durable golf ball that performed excellently in the long game for our tester. Our used TaylorMade RBZ Urethane balls are available in Pearl, Pearl/Grade A, and Grade B condition. The irons feature toplines that are thick enough to inspire confidence at address without being too clunky and uninviting. A softer golf ball is good for getting more feel off the clubface especially when it comes to hitting shots around the green, and when on it as well.

Unfortunately, Sam is not a member of any club at the moment but regularly gets out on the golf course to keep up the facade of having a handicap of five. Sam is a member of North Hants Golf Club in Fleet, Hampshire, where he won the club championship 3 times in succession from 2015-2017. The durability was also very good as during my testing I did visit some sketchy areas and I did catch some branches but the ball dealt with them well. So, if you like a soft feel on chips and putts, or could do with a few extra yards, courtesy of a low-compression core, our guide to the best soft feel golf balls could be just the ticket. Packed with proven technologies, this complete set is crafted for golfers of all skill levels to provide easy launch, explosive distance and max forgiveness in one lightweight package.Among the myriad options available, the Zero Friction Spectra Golf Ball stands out as a promising contender. It will be harder to shape yourshotswith specific draws and fades, but most beginner golfers aren’t worried about this anyway. The look with the shades of green, the pocket space and the structure of the bag itself are perfect, it just seems like they forgot that it needs to be carried.

The golf ball is the only piece of equipment with which you play every shot in every round, so it is important to find the best golf balls that are right for your game. There is also further help in the form of a prominent side stamp in the shape of an alignment lineon the side of the ball, with the 338-dimple pattern working extremely well to deliver a reduction in drag and to get the ball airborne as easily as possible. Some golf brands measure compression of the core only and others will state compression for the entire ball. Indeed, softness is seen as such a desirable quality that many balls reference it directly in their names, including nearly all of those we highlight here. If you are looking for an all-out budget urethane golf ball, this one offers good performance, especially in the short game. You will already enjoy a little extra distance and the harder ball will give you some better control at higher altitude.

We started by testing these on a launch monitor up against various clubs from our custom-fitted line up. Whereas any golfer can benefit from any of the features in a golf ball, compression is the one feature dependent on your swing speed. In testing, we used the same ball for 18 holes and, via the impact of trees and poor shots, there was limited wear and tear. Our specific golf ball testing is built upon this procedure so we can get controlled data inside, and then see how the golf ball performs outside and on the golf course.Controlling spin is essential for golfers, especially when it comes to approach shots and shots around the green. But if the triangles start to blend together in disarray as the ball rolls, that means your putting stroke was crooked. Golf Ball compressiojn is the change of shape that occurs when your club transfers energy to the ball as it makes contact. A good rule of thumb is that you want a compression rating that matches your swing speed in miles per hour (MPH).

The RBZ is designed for softer feel, additional spin and improved short game performance to help around the greens. During our on-course testing, we were able to appreciate the soft feel on and around the greens, whilst we also enjoyed the durability and spin control on offer. He also oversees all Tour player content as well so if you need to know what clubs Tiger or Rory has in play, Sam is the person to ask. On chips and putts, it is primarily the cover material that will dictate how soft a ball feels but, on fuller shots, other elements of the ball’s design – the core and any mid-layers – come into the equation. When you couple that with the spin control offered by the cast urethane-cover, you have a solid all rounder that provides regular golfers with a good value for money alternative. The best premium golf ballscome in alternative versions that spin slightly less for players who prefer a firmer feel or more control off the tee. I have to keep the weather cover zipped AT ALL TIMES when I'm walking with the bag, otherwise the entire bag empties itself out while on the move. Golf ball compression is a measurement of how much the ball deforms when force is applied to the ball after being struck by a golf club. In other words, as your swing speed gets faster, you want a ball that will compressesoff the tee less (a higher compression value) as you transfer energy from the club to the ball. If you play at agolf coursein a higher altitune, the air density will be lower and there will be less drag on the golf ball in the air.
