Description

Over seven million Henry hoovers have been made since it was first put into production by Numatics International in 1981. In the time that has since passed, they’ve made some minor iterative improvements, but – for the most part – the Hetty today is the same as the Henry we first met almost four decades ago. A minor complaint is that this model doesn’t come with “Hi” and “Lo” cleaning modes, like other versions of the Hetty. Instead, there’s only one suction option, which can make the head difficult to push on carpets due to the strong suction.

Only one of the included attachments is designed for cleaning up hair. The rest are normal Henry attachments. Only one of the included attachments is designed for cleaning up hair. The rest are normal Henry attachments. Note: The Hetty is short for the Numatic Henrietta, so if you see people talk about the Henrietta this is actually the same vacuum. Overview of the Hetty Hoover The Hetty is not as bulky as you think (or at least as I thought prior to purchasing one). In fact, I found it easy to store in a number of different places in my home, which was something I was concerned about because we are very limited on space. Once the wand was removed, I was able to slot it into a wardrobe, under the stairs, and on top of a washing machine. When shopping for a small home you have less mess – but less storage space. For this we suggest the Henry Micro, which will do a great job while fitting snugly into small spaces. What’s a Numatic Henry?

Henry Quick

While this setup works well enough, experience has taught me that the various sections of the pole can become stiff and difficult to pull apart over time. To avoid this, I recommend pulling them apart at the end of each clean, and loosely rejoining them for storage. This tool was also really handy when it came to cleaning the boot of our car (more on that below), as well as the carpet underneath the bed that the floor tool couldn’t reach (as previously mentioned). Crevice Tool You would expect him to be cheaper than a regular Henry. Does extra storage space make up the extra in cost? Henry’s little sister is Hetty. She comes with all the same features as Henry, but the introduction of Eco technology helps you to save the planet and your wallet at the same time. A smaller size means she’s easier to store, but a 9-litre bag capacity, means there’s plenty of dust storage room.

If there’s one thing you expect from a Henry, it’s the cute face painted on the front of the iconic red body. It was a cute touch when Henry first launched, and it remains an enduring symbol that gives the vacuum cleaner a personality and life. It’s easy to love this vacuum cleaner. Harry is a lot like his older brother Henry except he’s been design specifically for pet lovers. So, if you have a few four-legged friends running around this could be for you. The Hetty is a solid model with loads of great attachments. From strong suction strength to versatility and great car cleaning, she has it all. If you are looking for a vacuum cleaner at a reasonable price with a slightly feminine twist, she is the girl for you. Part of the reason for this power is that Henry doesn’t have any motorised tools for agitating dirt. Instead, it relies on good old-fashioned suction power to pull dirt out of carpets and off hard floors. How does the Hetty differ from the Henry – if at all? And how does it compare to other cylinder vacuum cleaners? Let’s find out!If you are desperately seeking an upright vacuum cleaner then have a look at our article regarding the best lightweight upright vacuum cleaners of the year, so far. Power Settings All in all, the Hetty is a fantastic cylinder hoover and one that would suit anyone who needs a compact, reliable, and efficient vacuum. These things are built to last, and we didn’t have a single issue with it in the time we used it. The PETH200-11 is the pet version of the Hetty. It’s a more expensive vacuum cleaner, but comes with an EcoBrush for cleaning pet hair from carpets. The addition of a powered brush makes the vacuum much more effective for hair and stubborn dirt, so we recommend the PETH200-11 if you have pets. When it comes to cleaning stairs, Hetty is perhaps not the best. Firstly, even though the hose is a decent length, I found that it was not long enough to leave the machine at either the bottom or top of the staircase. This meant that I had to physically carry the Hetty with me in one hand as I climbed the stairs, vacuuming as I went. Now, I did not find this to be much of an issue, but if you have mobility or strength issues, this definitely will be something that will cause you grief. I was able to rest the machine on one of the corner steps at the top of my staircase, but it was a bit precarious, balancing on the edge:

A bonus is that the Hetty comes with an extra adaptor for tools. If you’re working in a cramped space, you can remove the steel tube that tools usually attach. A unique aero-brush is great if you have pets in the house. It provides an outstanding level of cleaning with carpets and is the perfect tool for cleaning up pet hairs, as well as those bits of pet food that don’t quite stay in the bowl and other edibles such as cat grass. A hard floor brush means it can continue cleaning on hard floor surfaces while a 10m power cable provides extensive reach. In the dry it has a hefty storage capacity of 15 litres and a wide range of attachments means it can switch effortlessly between different tasks. It really is a vacuum which can rise to meet just about every challenge you can think of.

Once again, the dusting brush is simply pushed onto the end of the universal adapter, and then you can choose whether to use one, two, or all three of the extension tubes (or none at all) depending upon the reach that you need. This brush seems to be made up of lots of soft bristles that really agitate the dust down into the hose without having to use much force at all, which is great for these delicate items. The Harry is the best in the range for cleaning up pet hair. It comes with a special brush attachment meant to lift hair and an activated charcoal filter which will draw out dirt and neutralize foul smelling pet pongs. Where do Henry Vacuums come from?
