After my not so great feelings after the last story I read from this author (I'm looking at you A Not So Meet Cute)... I went into this book with a bit of trepidation. Would I like it? Would this be the end, at least for awhile, of my relationship with this author? That's why I find myself in the throes of wedding planning, pre-wedding classes with my broody, over-protective fiancé, and counting down the days until we can finally say I do. Keller and Lilly are attracted to one another after only a couple of days but they fight it. You have to suspend your disbelief for this story. From the tiny royal island nation (somewhere between Scandinavia and England) to the American heiress and her wet t-shirt contests to the tension between Lilly and Keller even though they are supposedly putting the country at risk. The tension is really delicious though. I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Royally Not Ready by Meghan Quinn

I’ll forever and always love you. There’s no changing that, even with your wild, unstoppable mouth.” Yes, when their life was in danger in the last few chapters they got more serious, there was action and real sacrifices and true acts of love but.....the last 5 chapters dont make up for the crap Keller pulled for 50% of the book and how he let miscommunication ruin another 30% of the book. Like, almost ALL the drama they suffered could have been avoided if the man would trust his girl and TALK. Like just tell the truth! So frustrating, and so disappointed. Neither of them communicated well (Keller worse of all), and they weren't understanding to each other because of it, just assuming things smh We are oil and water every single day and even though he’s training me to be queen, I have this simmering desire to kneel before him.

Keller is still the brooding, protective, silent type. Even though he still has all those characteristics, you definitely see more to him in this book. In fact, I think this book gave you so much more insight into what he is thinking and why he does things. There are moments I wanted to shake him—okay, a lot of moments—and moments when I just wanted to hug him and shield him from the world. The Looooong and the Short of It with a Giveaway: October 2023 Wrap-Up Post and What to Expect in November Of course, I didn’t follow him. I might be up for a good time, but I’m also educated enough to know leaving with a stranger isn’t smart. Well, that’s until he mentioned my mom’s name. My mom who passed away several years ago. Royally Not Ready is a Princess Diaries type romance between a girl who would be princess and the Royal secretary charged with preparing her to take the crown. Narrated by Emma Wilder and John Hartley in duet, this story felt fully immersive with both narrators performing a variety of male and female characters. My biggest issue with the narration was that Emma Wilder only voiced female characters and I love listening to her man voice so much! But John Hartley's narration of Keller was deep and sensual and made up for it.

I grew to love this couple. I loved how they both changed for one another in subtle and not so subtle ways. Lilly, most noticeably, changes into someone fit for a crown and to be the head of a country. I also love a good grovel and Keller was very very good at it. In this post I am doing a Royally Not Ready book review. This is the first book I’ve read by Meghan Quinn and after almost a full month of non stop dark romance I figured I needed a light hearted break with a Rom Com. This book was exactly what I needed.Royally in Trouble continues to follow Lilly and Keller as they navigate their personal and professional relationship and go through hardships to get to know one another and themselves. Lilly was super immature and annoying in book one and I thought there would be more of the same here, which was disappointing. But surprisingly, while she does get all vulgar sometimes, she dialed it down A LOT, which was good. She was still her but finally was beginning to realize she should reign it in in public. Royally Not Ready turned into a friends to lovers romance and I enjoyed watching Lilly and Keller both grow and change into their new roles. It was entertaining and fun, emotional at times and all around a nice read.

So I'm off to get my hands on Royally In Trouble, which I'm hoping is just as amazing (if not more than) this was!Lilly’s personality and actions are exactly what you wouldn’t expect from a royal. She is witty, sarcastic and has a habit of talking first and thinking second. When she is approached by Keller, and he advises her that she needs to come with him to Torskethorpe to assume the throne. Ever since her parents passed away, she has been feeling alone so she agrees to the trip just so she can meet the family she never knew she had. Lilly is the next and only heir to the throne of Torkesthrope and is to get married and have children. Her and Keller are already engaged and set to get married.Their relationship is being tested with the short time frame of just four weeks until they are to wed, the pre-wedding classes, and having to obstain from sex. Lilly begins to feel that her and Keller are growing apart the closer they get to the wedding and begins to have doubts if he will be at the altar as Keller doesn't believe he is a good fit for the role of being by her side as the future prince. There's not much more they can take and now a threat to her and Keller's safety has arised, making him more stressed to keep her safe and trying to catch whomever has threatened them before the big day. Will they catch them in time, and will there be a royal wedding? Samantha Brentmoor was incredible and John Hartley absolutely smashed it once again. I usually struggle with audiobooks being ADHD, but the dual POV & voiced character dialogue really helped me stay focused and engaged.
