Description

Use a toothbrush or scrub brush to scrub the grout lines, applying firm pressure to lift away any grime. Once you're through the disclaimers, it's really quite simple to use, and we think the cleaning power balances out the extra care and caution. You'll apply the gel directly onto the surface and let it sit for up to one minute, and then either scrub, wipe, or rinse as needed. Then, use your steam cleaner and slowly move it over the grout. If there are any tough stains, simply spray them with vinegar and scrub them with a hard-bristled brush.

Mix together 1.5 litres of warm water with 70 millilitres of ammonia solution. We recommend wearing rubber gloves for this. Grout cleaners are available in several different types of containers, but the most common are spray bottles, squeeze bottles, and pour bottles. The best way to use a grout cleaner depends on the formula, so always consult the manufacturer’s instructions before cleaning grout. In general, though, you should start by washing the tiles with a mixture of warm water and mild dish soap. For a tile floor, sweep or vacuum, and then mop or use a grout steamer.

FAQ

The formula includes bleach, so it disinfects while it cleans, too—though, the presence of bleach does require an extra level of care. You don't want to let it sit for very long, or it may damage your surface's finish (with older porcelain in particular). In addition, as with any cleaners that contain bleach, you’ll want to take the necessary precautions to ventilate the area, wear protective gloves, and keep the bleach away from your eyes and skin. It is also key to remember: nevermix the cleaner with any others, because the result can be hazardous. Last, always test the cleaner on a small area first to make sure it won’t scratch or discolor your tile. Open a window to ventilate the area, put on your rubber gloves and some old clothes, and get scrubbing. Rinse the area with water to remove any leftover cleaning solution. With these few simple steps, your grout will look brand-new. Begin by combining equal parts lemon juice and salt in a small bowl. The acid in the lemon juice will help to lift any dirt or stains, while the salt will act as a natural abrasive to scrub away grime. The rotating bristle head of this Rubbermaid scrubber takes the work out of cleaning your tile and grout. It can oscillate 60 times per second and functions like an electric toothbrush. The design features two brush heads, including one specifically designed for grout, with a pointed tip that can get into corners. You can also choose between a pulse setting and a continuous scrub setting.

Simply dip your brush, whether it’s a specific grout brush or just a toothbrush, and work in the chlorine bleach into the grout. Wash the area with water and enjoy your rejuvenated white grout. However, make sure you follow the safety instructions. We recommend wearing rubber gloves when working with hydrogen peroxide. There are also some grout cleaners that are designed for specific grout colours. For example, you could use a white cleaner for white grout or a chocolate cleaner for brown grout. These formulas not only clean the grout but leave a tint of colour behind to refresh the grout’s appearance. If you opt for this type of formula, it’s extremely important to get the colour right. Don’t fancy buying an expensive branded grout cleaner? Try this cheaper, yet just as effective, homemade grout cleaner. Still, if you prioritize sustainability and eco-friendly ingredients, or if you have kids and pets in your home and prefer to avoid strong, synthetic ingredients, this is an ideal choice. We frequently recommend Better Life for its floor cleaning products for the same reason: effectiveness and family-friendliness. This depends on the area you are sealing. If you are sealing wall tiles that aren’t exposed to moisture or high traffic once every five years should suffice. In reality for areas like this, you don't really need to seal the grout at all. For floor tiles or kitchen tiles that are going to be exposed to more dirt and debris you should think about resealing your grout every three years.

From cookers to taps, pots and pans in the kitchen, or tile grout and all those fiddly, hard-to-reach nooks and crannies in the bathroom, the SonicScrubber works like a large electric toothbrush, with an oscillating, sonic action that dislodges dirt in no time. Be warned though. With so many uses around the home, you'll find it hard to put down! The Grout-Eez grout cleaner does use some harsher chemicals than the eco-friendly alternatives. For that reason, it may not be the best choice for food prep areas, such as kitchen countertops. (Though, that's not unusual for this product category.) You'll also want to avoid using it on natural stone (the brand is very clear about this). After the grout cleaner has soaked into the grout, you can use a brush to scrub the product into the grout to remove really stubborn stains. However, in areas where the grout is going to be exposed to a lot of moisture or water you need to add new grout sealer every 12 months. Consider siliconing a shower or sealing a bath after adding the grout sealer to help protect the grout in areas where water and moisture will accumulate. How long does grout last? Along with its versatility, we also like that a little bit goes a long way, and you can use it throughout your home. When we tested it, we tried it in an oven, on the walls, on the shower door, and more—and while we technically didn't test it on grout ourselves, we did receive ringing endorsements about its overall performance during our internal survey, so we are more than confident in our recommendation. Some users told us that they thought it could be stronger, but overall, we think it's totally sufficient for its designated purposes and a good entry-level option for grout cleaning.
