Of course adults can sit down with kids to explain this but I don't think it's a book that a child will appreciate as much as the adult. Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. Lost and Found became Oliver's first book to made into animation by London based Studio AKA, screening on Christmas Eve 2008 on Channel 4 in the UK and on Nickelodeon in the US and Australia. This text in the pictures comes from famous classic tales such as Hansel and Gretel and Alice in Wonderland. Oliver Jeffers is the author-illustrator of many books for children, including Once Upon an Alphabet, which won a Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, and Lost and Found, which was a Nestlé Children’s Book Prize Gold Medal winner.

Furthermore, we offer that this glorious book of such strength and originality, is an ideal gift for readers of all ages. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. Every one of its elements--the haunting prose poem executed in hand- lettered words; the pictures done in watercolor, pencil, and digital collage; and the objects built from words borrowed from classic stories--all work together toward a richly harmonious whole. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). In this inspiring, lyrical tale about the rewards of reading and sharing stories, a little girl sails her raft “across a sea of words” to arrive at the house of a small boy.

The beauty and power of children’s books is the subject of A Child of Books, which reads as much as a poetic manifesto as it does a story. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. From New York Times bestselling author-illustrator Oliver Jeffers, creator of The Day the Crayons Quit and Lost and Found, and typographical artist Sam Winston comes an exceptional new picture book. He has made art for Newsweek, The New York Times, United Airlines, TED, Nintendo, and has illustrated a a number of novels. Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do.

You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! New York Times best-selling author-illustrator Oliver Jeffers and fine artist Sam Winston’s lyrical picture book inspires readers of all ages to create, to question, to explore, and to imagine. Therefore, we step aboard, to watch as we embark, to realise the substance and meaning of our route and then the parts that might be included on our travels. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! In this video from Walker books, Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston discuss their new book, A Child of Books. Jeffers and Winston's mixed-media artwork, an inventive combination of watercolor, pencil, and digital collage, elicits strong notice from readers. Some, she says, have forgotten the importance of stories, but she finds a boy and introduces him to her world, a land created through a marriage of Jeffers's evocative art and Winston's masterly use of typography.
