I believe this is something to do with the HiLink connectivity features. If you have multiple Huawei/HiLink/Honor router/devices they can all connect to each other and share WiFi settings. In your router settings try disabling Huawei Link or something similarly named. The author of the above post is a thinkbroadband staff member. In terms of LTE speeds, the Huawei B535 was able to convince in the test. Although the device was tested in the test with unlimited SIM cards from Vodafone, it was far from the theoretical maximum, but with well over 150 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 70 Mbit/s in the uplink, you can do a good life. We also take a comparison test with the Netgear Nighthawk M2 Router and it shows that the network theoretically enables even higher speeds. The latency was usually well below 30 milliseconds, and the peak was even less than 20 milliseconds. The reception and transmission power was very good in the test (LTE B3, B7, B20). I also had the B311 before. On both I experience similar issues. Maybe they are the same as what you have discovered.Up to 64 devices can be connected wirelessly to the Huawei B535 4G Router 3 Pro via the B535’s WLAN network. The device transmits on the common frequencies 2.4 and 5 GHz, but does not support the new WLAN ax / Wifi 6. There are 802.11ac/a/n 2 x 2 and 802.11b/g/n 2 x 2 MIMO. The maximum wireless transmission rate via the dual-band WLAN antenna is 1,167 Mbit/s. My solution which is working fine now after many hours of trouble is to Root the Samsung S7 and tether to an old Asus AC68 which can use USB from the phone. Unlimited SIM now giving between 50-70MB dl and 20-30MB ul. Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro on Three 4+ (LTE)/5G and at home Three Mobile, with (Three)ZTE MF286D router giving about 113/20Mbps.

The Huawei modems with a phone connection would auto-drop to 3G for voice calls, so this advice may not be universally applicable. I've spoken too soon, the speeds dropped shortly after. Everything is fine my side, the potential to get a good service is there according to all the measurements of signal and the band of the cell, and up until last month it had worked consistently. The reason for the phone root is to allow software to keep the USB connection alive even if the AC68 is rebooted. I'm writing this here in the hope someone may help me, three technical support are as useful as a chocolate fireguard...

Get the User manual instruction guide for Huawei B535-232 Technologies Co.,Ltd in PDF format for free. This manual describes the Setup of Mifi Routers, as well as the procedures for preparation, installation, and removal. I realize others have tried this already and not had much success, but I changed my MTU on the 4G side on the B535 to 1500 a few days ago in conjunction with changing the DNS to 1.1.1.1 around a week ago, and Ive not had a single drop or stall on any devices connected directly to Three which are not via Nord. The new router Huawei 4G Router 3 Pro (Huawei B535-232) was available in European countries for a few months, which is integrated LTE Cat7 modem and allows speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink. As we introducted before, Huawei B535 router has many predecessor such as the Huawei B618 or the Huawei B818, which can provide much faster link speeds, but they also cost a lot more expensive than Huawei B535. Why would using a Phone as opposed to a 4G router make a difference? Except perhaps that they use different APNs for the connection?

The Huawei B535 does not have a WLAN extender function, i.e. the use of an existing WLAN as Internet access. There is also no WLAN timer. I assumption that the B535 just doesn't have a powerful enough CPU to allow sustained high throughput, whereas the 5G Pro that Frediche mentioned he uses, does. Run the VPN setup script here: https://github.com/hwdsl2/setup-ipsec-vpn. It's a quite handy script that sets up a IPsec/L2TP VPN for you (the VPN protocol that the Huawei router supports, it doesn't support OpenVpn or IKEv2).If desired, the LAN 4 connection can also be used as a WAN connection. This means that the internal cellular modem is switched off and the Internet connection is processed via an existing LAN connection. Of course, this is particularly useful if you only occasionally use the Huawei B535 as an LTE router. For the rest of the time, the device then functions as a normal WLAN access point. Then again, Mr Saffron or someone else might still have the link. There's also the chance that the link no longer works, but if you don't ask, you'll never know. They're possibly using proxy servers for the internet access to speed things up on the Unlimited plans in a router and not if they're in a phone.
