Eve and Roarke, Roarke and Eve – who is my favourite - hard to say – I want to be Eve and I want to be married to Roarke …

The most richly accomplished of the brothers’ pairings to date—and given Connelly’s high standards, that’s saying a lot.The other books of the series are Glory in Death, Immortal in Death, Rapture in Death, Ceremony in Death, Vengeance in Death, Holiday in Death and Conspiracy in Death. All these books captivated the first audience to be introduced to it. Eve Dallas’ story was one to follow. Other characters regularly featured in the books include Captain Ryan Feeney, Dr Charlotte Mira, Detective Delia Peabody and Detective Ian McNab. mix of sarin and sulfur trioxide (drugged, then convinced to handle improperly sealed nerve gas egg) Roberts, Nora (18 April 2014). "Eve And Roarke With No Body". Fall Into The Story . Retrieved 7 December 2017. So, no babies, not now. No charming orphans of any age. No pregnancy scares, no miscarriages, no foundlings, no street-wise kid who needs a good home. Did I leave anything out? If so, fill it in, then answer no.... I'm sorry some readers are disappointed I'm not taking the series and the characters in this direction, but I'm not. Repeat: I. Am. Not. The readers who insist on telling me why this could/should work are wasting their time. I don't agree, and I write the books. The prose is well-written and engaging. The plot is thought-provoking and tragic. While this book has some action, it is mostly a police procedural. Robb usually manages to weave humor in her novels, providing some much needed levity to offset some of the more serious and grim aspects of the story. The humor manages to bring out Eve’s personality. Everything from phrases she doesn’t understand, to her reactions to the loud clothing worn by her colleagues and to a candy thief make her more relatable. The author brings strong characters, great plots, wonderful relationships, and excellent pacing to the series. Woven through the novel are threads of caring for others, friendship, relationships, ego, glamour, careers, leadership, and trust. I was late to the game in reading the “In Death” series … was always putting it off: not even sure why – well, I was sort of sure why. Roarke is Irish I am always wary of all things “Irish” in books … I find the Irish characters are parodied a bit in literature and it annoys me. Started "Naked in Death" in 2012 (it was first published in 1995) so 17 years after it’s first publication. Another factor that put me off a bit was the fact that it was set in the ‘future’, the mid-21st century. BUT, after reading book one, I was hooked.

Mira is the resident psychiatrist and profiler for the NYPSD. She has several children with her husband, Dennis, and has grandchildren as well. She is a pretty and feminine woman whom Eve often consults on her cases. Eve loves Charlotte very much but has not admitted it to her face; nevertheless, Charlotte knows. Charlotte thinks of Eve as a daughter, a fact which annoyed Mira's own daughter at one point, and throughout the series has gotten Eve to open up to her more and more. If investigators everywhere used their "instincts" like that, God help the innocents who get caught in the cross-fire. Ali, Kecia, Human in Death: Morality and Mortality in J. D. Robb's Novels (Waco, Texas: Baylor University Press, 2017). ISBN 9781481306270 In 2036, the poisoning of a beloved actor at a swanky party celebrating his actress wife has Lt. Eve Dallas and Det. Delia Peabody scouting around for those who might not have considered him quite so beloved.

(2000). "Chapter Twenty". Judgment in Death. Penguin Publishing Group. ISBN 9781101203798. Eve was found in an alley in Dallas, Texas with severe injuries and evidence of extensive physical and sexual abuse. Her social worker named her and put Eve into a foster home. After reaching the age of majority, Eve has a big desire to move to New York City, where she hopes to become a police officer. Throughout the series, her memories return, mostly through a series of nightmares, revealing a history of incestual rape and the patricide of her father, Richard Troy. Great installment of In Death. Thank goodness there wasn't a master serial killer wanting to spar with Eve. Book started a little dry, but then got really good. Really liked this. I liked the murder(s) and the why too. Just solid police work in this one. Also reduced Nadine time (thankfully) and reduced house decoration conversations (thankfully). Please lets stop with the movie syndication stuff. The quality of the writing is still great, still very visual; but the characters have stopped resonating... I suppose its fair to say that this series and this author isn't relatable anymore.

Note: "stunner" and "laser" are both terms used interchangeably for the fictional weapons that the NYPSD carry in the In Death books; they release a strong electrical, laser-like stun that can do anything from incapacitating to killing the victim. There's a deliberation about the writing in the first chapter leading upto the murder and Eve's introduction, it looks like it was "bolted on" with thinly buried clues, purely to substantiate the eventual killer. In Encore in Death Eve and Roarke are still in a happy place with lots of love and humour and no cross words. Galahad gets lots of treats. Peabody is still in heaven as she designs her new home. All is right with the world apart from that dratted candy thief who defeats all of Eve's attempts at hiding her chocolate bars. It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, a celebrity couple who’d conquered both Hollywood and Broadway. And now Eve Dallas has made her entrance—but not as a guest. After raising a toast, Fitzhugh fell to the floor and died, with physical symptoms pointing to cyanide, and the police have crashed the party. This one kept me interested all the way through. I read and listened to it – love the narrator, Susan Erikson.

It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, the most glittering of all celebrity couples. Everyone had expected the party to be in the newspapers the next day but not because one of the hosts was murdered! As the crowd had gathered to watch Eliza sing, Fitzhugh had raised a final toast to his glamorous wife and fallen to the floor. Death by cyanide poisoning. It's time for Lt. Eve Dallas to make her entrance.Although her first name is Delia, she is referred to by her surname 'Peabody' throughout the books, as is standard for other police officers. Peabody has a very close relationship with Eve. Peabody comes from a family of "Free-Agers", which is a fictional extension of the New Age movement from the 1980s. Her family is peaceful and pacifistic, but Delia prefers exercising justice the police way. She is a responsible officer, but as the books continue, she becomes more confident in her cases and in teasing Eve, particularly about her sex life with McNab and her sexual fantasies. she studied the pond and the purity of the floating white lilies. Tangled roots down there, she bet; you just had to look under the surface.
