Description

Their flagship Cotswolds Dry Gin – which goes cloudy when you add tonic – is an aromatic London Dry with nine botanicals. But they also do a changing range of special Cotswold gins, including hedgerow and wildflower gins, as well as their own Cotswold whisky. Buy online* Cotswolds Dry Gin 2. Sibling Gin Nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds countryside, the Cotswolds Distillery was born from a dream to produce Outstanding Natural Spirits in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. The distillery opened its doors in 2014 and is the first full-scale distillery within the Cotswolds – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From their single malt whiskies to gins and liqueurs, everything they make is about quality and flavour above all else.

Founded in 2016 by owner and Master Distiller Neil Harrison, Nelson’s is a small-batch distiller based in the picturesque Staffordshire countryside and producers of the special edition Gluggle Jug Gin, Craft Gin Club’s Gin of the Month in June 2019. Our distillery opened its doors in 2014 and is the first full-scale distillery within the Cotswolds – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From our single malt whiskies to our gins and liqueurs, everything we make is about quality and flavour above all else. In this fabulous experience, you can join the Salcombe Distilling Co. team at their waterside Distillery Bar overlooking Salcombe Estuary in Devon to uncover the art of distillation.

After finding out from a distiller in 2012 that a gin with ginger as the predominant flavour hadn’t existed commercially for over 100 years, founder Richard Bamber set out on a journey of discovery that resulted in Brennen & Brown, the Cheltenham based distillery that produce a vast range of flavoured and special edition gins. If you’re looking for a truly immersive experience, Brennen & Brown offer fabulous and ginformative gin tasting evenings, as well as Lab Experiences for two where you can create your own bottle of gin. They are also in the process of building a Ginsperational Tasting Room to complement their experiences.

Discover Oxford’s beautiful landscapes, vibrant markets, and quaint villages. Experience it’s rich history, stunning views and excellent theatres.

Overall

Before you head home, we’ll give you a mini takeaway goody bag, so you won’t be going home empty-handed! Cotswolds Dry Gin is very restrained in its use of cardamom and lavender. Rather than hit you in the face with it— despite the 10x botanical remark— the two add color but never take center stage. Starting with a Hot Mulled Sloe gin on a chilly winter’s evening, Libby from Callibgraphy will take you through the calligraphy techniques using a mixture of calligraphy paint brushes and calligraphy pens to create a stunning homemade Christmas card and gift tag for a loved one this season. Sibling’s Original Gin has notes of citrus, vanilla and blueberry, and they also make a range of seasonal gins, including a winter warmer infused with festive cranberries and clementines. Or serve their Negroni Gin with tonic for a bitter, Italian-style aperitivo. Buy online* Tasting at Sibling Gin Distillery 3. Racing Gin

They also run a Gin School where you make your own gin in their state-of-the-art labs. You start by learning about the gin-making process and choosing your botanicals, then your gin is infused in their copper stills while you try their gins, before it’s bottled to take home. Buy online* Piston Gin Distillery 9. Bath Distillery Gin As we as gin drinkers have become more sophisticated, the choice to keep those hydrophobic essential oils suspended in a gin has become recognized as a design choice. Cotswolds Dry Gin proudly proclaims that they do not chill filter their gin. Cotswolds uses “10x the average amount of botanicals” in their copper pot still [ source]. The gin is distilled from neutral grain and features some local touches, including lavender from the picturesque and renowned Snowshill Lavender Farm. Tasting Notes As part of our Smithery Sessions series, we have teamed up with the wonderful creatives at The Crafty Hen to host a dried floral wreath making class at our Sipsmith Distillery.Delve into the fascinating history of gin and let your creativity flourish as you craft a blend uniquely tailored to your taste using a selection of botanicals, fruits, and exotic spices. You'll learn how they create their award-winning spirits; from the selection and distillation of botanicals, to the intricate field-to-glass journey of the ethically sourced speciality coffees of their famous Conker Coffee Liqueur. With its state-of-the-art 150 litre copper still “Victory” (aptly named after HMS Victory), Nelson’s produces high-quality award-winning spirits, quality controlled by Neil himself. Similar taste transformations take hold in chilled drinks like the Martini, stirred. I find that an olive better complements Cotswolds Dry Gin’s more vegetal character after stirring— or if you’re feeling adventurous. Cotswolds is also delightful made up in a Gibson.
