Although the difference between the two systems isn’t big in terms of price, the Planar 3 is slightly more affordable than the Project X1. Who Should Get Project X1 (And Why)?

Balance the tonearm by turning the counterweight until the tonearm itself is level. You want it to be about even with the platter—not too high, not too low. Be careful to not damage your stylus since you have removed the stylus guard. Depending on where you are on your musical journey (be it your system, the size of your record collection, your budget, your aesthetic requirements) - both tables will not let you down but one may be a slightly better match! On listening to my albums the sound is very thin and sibilant, not getting any of the warmth a TT is supposed to give. I'd describe the sound as mostly distorted, thin bright and pretty crap tbo.

If you only have enough money for the Pro-Ject X1—get it. But if you have money to spare for the Pro-Ject X2, I wouldn’t hesitate to get it. Pro-Ject X1 vs Rega Planar 3 Radar Love«: Vinyl passion over radio waves – is that even possible? Yes it is! The Cambridge Audio Alva TT can also send its signals via Bluetooth as an alternative to the phono cable. At best an emergency solution? Quite the contrary! The X1 also provides a little extra convenience that the Debut Carbon can’t match. If you want to change speeds on the X1, just push a button. If you want to change speeds on the Debut Carbon, you’re going to need to lift the platter off the sub-platter and adjust the belt position on the motor pulley. Conclusion But there’a reason the cost is so high—because there’s quality to match it. Pro-Ject X1 vs Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DCIt’s a musically convincing presentation, one where each instrument dovetails beautifully to add to the experience. A new belt-driven, three-speed, super-budget turntable is to be released by the Austrian outfit (which appears to need a long holiday, if the press releases are any indication) The turntable is belt-driven and supported by metal feet, which is ideal for a clear audio experience because it reduces vibrations while rotating, and therefore emits almost zero noise from the rotation motor.

Having said that, changing platters will substantially change the sonic character of the turntable all else being equal with correct settings. It‚Äôs the combination of materials/components in a turntable that define its sound and on which our team spent quite some time to get that right. I would think the C588 has a very organic flow to its sound, not as uptight as on one end of the spectrum (nice tight bass but detached midrange/treble) or the other end, a loose (somewhat muddled bass but with good timing) as with some turntables. Although the two turntables are fierce competitors, they have various differences when it comes to specifications and features. I’ve never seen this slightly unhinged approach taken in any press release relating to hi-fi before. For myself, it’s taken as read that a more expensive turntable utilises more expensive components. The price is relatively high but so what? Those people who can afford one will be interested in purchasing it. Those who cannot afford one won’t buy. Why beat yourself up over it? Besides, we’re talking about a €699/€799 turntable here. Why stress over it? Yeah it is a bit of an awkward shaped body but tbh I always try and ignore the body when I'm aligning anyway because it isn't always flush with the cantilever. I tend to put the TT on my dining room table and look directly down the alignment tool to make sure the cantilever sits flush with the line. This is why, on higher end turntables like the Pro-ject X1, you really need a record player that’s going to feature an isolated motor. Turntables that feature isolated motors can often run you thousands of dollars.

We do provide installation options for built-in appliances providing it is simply a case of fitting the appliance and furniture doors. Any additional work to the kitchen units or carpentry work required will need to be completed at the customer’s expense. The answer is clear: Yes, the X1 is still an important product, although it is aimed at achieving different goals. Design goals Benefitting from a True Balanced Connection, the Pro-Ject X1 B advances an already award-winning turntable to a whole new level of turntable excellence.
