About this deal

STAY: Taking inspiration from its setting—the former historic headquarters of the Norwegian America Line—the recently opened Amerikalinjen hotel invites you to hang with others in a multitude of public spaces. Arguably the best is Haven—a glass-ceilinged indoor garden with a waffle trolley and gourmet coffee. Located in the heart of the West Midlands, on the banks of the River Severn, is Worcester – a beautiful cathedral city with a fascinating history. DO: The following is not a typo. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a Danish don't-miss. One of Scandinavia's best collections of contemporary works, it'll see exhibits by everyone from Lauren Greenfield to Marsden Hartley this year, but what you see from this museum 25 miles outside of Copenhagen is just as noteworthy: the seventh-happiest country on earth (aka Sweden).

Some other good news, despite the pandemic: “Positive emotions as a whole remained more than twice as frequent as negative ones,” says Helliwell. This makes it a tranquil escape from some of the busier areas of London, yet there’s still a good offering of modern restaurants, charismatic cafes, unique shops, and local sports clubs. And if you want more, central London is easily accessible by train. These characters and their relationships and friendships are written so well that I don't think I will ever recover. The layers of past and present so succinctly form the picture of their lives that I feel like I have lived my life alongside theirs and will forevermore. Honestly though, I could not put it down. I stayed up until 1am so I could read it in a day and then I ended up laying in bed sobbing towards the end. Diverse, fully-fleshed-out characters, with the romantic duo of Harriet and Wyn being excellent protagonists.

Reading an Emily Henry book is like putting on your favourite comfy hoodie; so comforting and familiar in the best way. I can’t wait to read whatever she writes next. Always at or near the top of this list, Norway is also repeatedly declared Europe's most beautiful country, so the scenery can't help but—with thanks to Marie Kondo—spark joy. Then again, local academics and experts have attributed Norwegians' happiness to social equality, a strong welfare safety net, and other social programs.

Emily Henry strikes again. She has managed to rip open my chest to look at all my insecurities and inner thoughts and then decided to put them on paper for the world to see. I want to say more but it hurts too much to think about. A love story that will be deeply and uniquely personal to each reader, instigating an interesting and timely debate about escapism, happiness, and what it means to live our best lives. With this in mind, we’ve taken a closer look at the 20 happiest places to live in the UK, as determined by Rightmove’s 2022 Happy at Home Index survey (responded to by more than 21,000 people). The survey was based on 12 happiness factors, including friendliness and community spirit, safety, culture, and things to do.I really enjoyed the structure of this book and seeing how the story and their friendship/relationships evolved over the years. The topic of friendship was really well explored and the entire story was so full of feeling and emotion, I even cried at some points. It was extremely well written. The community in Northwich is friendly and welcoming too, and local farmers’ markets, artisan markets, and festivals are held regularly. This coastal town is home to two award-winning beaches: Llandudno North Shore Beach and West Shore Beach. Both offer amazing views overlooking the Irish Sea. The Llandudno Pier is also iconic; a 700m walkway lined with independent shops, arcades, and tempting food stalls, it’s popular with residents and tourists alike. Hexham is a market town and civil parish set on the banks of Northumberland’s River Tyne, with a strong community feel and sense of belonging. Though it made it into Rightmove’s top five happiest places to live in the UK, it’s fallen slightly down the list since last year when it took first place. Certain areas may be better equipped than others to help us pursue the lifestyle we want. Plus, different communities have different values, which may or may not match up with our own.

STAY: The Pulitzer Amsterdam, a boutique hotel set in a collection of 25 restored 17 th- and 18 th-century houses, makes you feel like you're staying at the home of a long lost (and well heeled) great aunt, who offers you bountiful sweet and savory treats, canal sails on her old-time-y boat, and even some quiet moments to yourself in the central garden. Reading Happy Place was like falling in love five times a day. With each chapter, I grew more and more in love with these characters. Residents of Altrincham pride themselves on their friendly and welcoming nature, and this is made clear by the numerous clubs, societies, and sports teams that are open to all.The setting was gorgeous and the characters were loveable, rich, and complex. The dynamics of this friendship group should be studied, and I am processing my paperwork to join this group in their cottage as we speak. Equity release may impact the size of your estate and it could affect your entitlement to current and future means-tested benefits.

I cannot place this book in any Emily Henry book ranking as it felt so different, but it’s equally as special as her previous books. Just in a different way. Happiness measures in the index compiled by Rightmove include friendliness and community spirit, whether people feel they can be themselves, nature and green spaces, opportunities locally to develop skills and amenities including schools, restaurants, shops and sports facilities. Bury St Edmunds is a historic market town located in Suffolk, England. It’s the home of Saint Edmund, the original patron Saint of England, and there are 1,000 years of history to explore through the town’s cathedral, abbey ruins, and museums. You thought you loved Henry's leading men from her previous books? Brace yourselves because you're not ready for Wyndham Connor. Located on the River Forth, Stirling is 37 miles northwest of Edinburgh and 26 miles northwest of Glasgow, and its railway station offers easy transport to every Scottish city.In terms of amenities, Galashiels has a range of shops, restaurants, and cafes, as well as excellent transport links to nearby towns and cities. The town is also home to the campus of Heriot-Watt University. Many favorite destinations have several things in common like stunning landscapes and intriguing activities: At Tulane, I majored in Communications/Linguistics, but my informal major was the city itself. New Orleans was where I discovered it was possible to fall in love with a physical environment. Riding the “Freret Jet,” the city bus that meandered from the Tulane campus to the French Quarter, and the St. Charles streetcar (only 5 cents a ride!), I was mesmerized by the street names. As the trolley rumbled along, I’d roll the musical consonants and vowels around my tongue: Dryades. Carondelet. Napoleon . Evenings, I’d stretch out on the rug of my dorm room studying my city map. Prytania, Annunciation, Tchoupitoulas, Piety, Esplanade, Fontainebleau, Frenchmen, and, of course, Louisa.
