Description

Nobody wants rodents running around. In fact, unclean animals can spread disease and lead to a deterioration in hygiene. In a commercial setting, mice infestations can lead to serious consequences. These products can be used to seal up any holes, gaps, or vents in a property to prevent mice from entering your home from business. They are a humane alternative to traps. Durability: Stainless steel is generally more durable than galvanised steel. It is more resistant to wear and tear, and it can withstand exposure to extreme temperatures and other environmental factors better than galvanised steel. An area that is often overlooked is rats gaining access to the property via the drainage system. A fault within the pipe can be common and often goes undetected, leading to rats gaining access to internal cavities and gardens via tunnels under the ground. If you believe that this might be possible, we recommend placing a drain guard that creates a one-way system, thus preventing rats from accessing. Ideally, you can control rodents by making it impossible for them to gain entry to your home. However, it may be difficult to exclude mice completely since they can pass through ¼ inch openings, approximately the width of a pencil. Rats can squeeze through ½ inch openings. Our Rodent Proof Wire Mesh and Mouse Mesh products are ideally suited to these applications

Secure the mesh: Place the mesh over the rat cage, making sure it is centred and covers all sides. Use wire or cable ties to secure the mesh to the cage, starting at one end and working your way around the entire cage.

Stainless Steel: Stainless steel is a popular choice for rodent mesh because it is highly durable and resistant to corrosion. It is also strong and can withstand significant pressure without warping or bending. However, it is more expensive than other materials, and may not be necessary for all applications. These products are made from a stainless steel welded mesh, providing a good level of protection against chewing and scratching. They are also available with plastic and stainless steel surrounds, with the latter particularly good for repelling rats. Copper: Copper mesh is another option for rodent control. It is non-corrosive and highly malleable, making it a good choice for irregularly shaped areas. However, it is more expensive than other materials and may be less effective at preventing rodent entry. The Mesh Company Rodent Mesh is designed to prevent rats, mice and squirrels from entering structures and buildings. The complex control process of rodent proofing is an important step in making your building clear of rats, mice or squirrels. Rodent infestations can lead to serious consequences, spread disease and lead to a deterioration in hygiene. Staples: Staples can be used to secure rat mesh to wooden surfaces such as framing or sheathing. Use a staple gun to attach the mesh to the surface, making sure to space the staples no more than 6 inches apart to ensure the mesh is secure.

This mesh requires heavy-duty scissors or tin snips. It can be affixed with silicone adhesive or self tapping screws. Why Choose The Mesh Company? The Mesh Company Rodent Mesh can be used to seal up any holes, gaps, or vents in a property to prevent mice from entering your home or business.Choose the right mesh: Select a mesh with a small enough opening to prevent rats from escaping. A mesh with an opening of 6mm (1/4 inch) or smaller is recommended. Make sure you leave no openings wider than 6mm around the sides of wire mesh or screens when installing them around your home or outdoor space. Moreover, covering floor drains may increase their likelihood of clogging, so you may wish to use a mesh with larger openings. We recently produced a handy articlethat goes into greater detail on our range of RatMesh. Product Range Manufactured from galvanised material. Not recommended for use within coastal environments as will rust.

Adhesive: Adhesive can be used to attach rat mesh to smooth surfaces such as metal or plastic. Use a high-strength adhesive that is specifically formulated for use with metal and that can withstand exposure to the elements. We recommend Gorilla Glue as the best adhesive to work with our mesh materials. square mesh provides an effective barrier to rats, but is also ideal to prevent mice as they cannot fit through a hole that small. If you need high strength material and a more cost-effective option, galvanised steel may be the better choice. Galvanised steel is the most popular mesh specification that is available for these reasons. Deliveries are usually madebetween 8.30am and 6.30pmMonday to Friday excluding public and bank holidays. During busy periods our couriers may deliver up to 9:00 p.m. Rats are capable of chewing through many materials, including some types of metal mesh. However, galvanised metal mesh can be a more difficult material for rats to chew through than other materials such as plastic or wood. Mice can fit through surprisingly small spaces. As such, we recommend mesh that has a hole size no greater than 6 mm x 6 mm. As a general rule of thumb, if you can get a biro through a hole a mouse can fit through too. If you’re not looking to stop rats and mice are the only concern then our galvanised mouse mesh will likely do the job. This can be bought in our online shop here. Mouse mesh should always have a maximum hole size of 6 mm x 6mm. As a rule of thumb, rats are capable of chewing through anything that is not harder than their teeth.

Aluminium: Aluminium mesh is lightweight and easy to handle, making it a good choice for DIY projects. It is also resistant to corrosion and can withstand exposure to the elements. However, it may not be as strong as other materials and may be more prone to warping or bending over time. Seal the edges: Once the mesh is installed, seal the edges using a silicone caulk or other sealant. This will prevent pests from crawling in between the mesh and the soffit or roof surface. Installation fixings not included but we generally recommend using either a strong silicone adhesive or self-tapping screws, subject to the requirement. To prevent mice from entering a building, it’s important to seal all openings and gaps that are larger than 6mm. This includes gaps around doors and windows, holes in walls, floors or ceilings, and gaps around gutters, pipes or cables. Sealing these openings with caulk, foam, or other materials can help prevent mice from entering and infesting a building. Cost: As mentioned above, galvanised steel is typically less expensive than stainless steel. This can make it a more cost-effective option for those who need to cover a large area with rat mesh.Wire ties: Wire ties, also known as zip ties, are a simple and effective way to secure rat mesh to a variety of surfaces. They are easy to install and can be tightened to provide a secure fit. Make sure to use wire ties that are made from a material that is strong enough to support the weight of the mesh. Prepare the surface: Clean the surface thoroughly and make any necessary repairs. This will ensure that the mesh adheres properly and provides a secure barrier against rodents. The grade of stainless steel that we use for these rolls is standard grade 304 stainless steel. This is the industry standard grade of stainless steel that is used in the woven mesh industry. It is long lasting and, equally importantly, it provides very good corrosion resistance.
