Another thing that came up while I was playing the game is that you can’t close all of the radial menus using the Circle button on the PS5. In this time of feudalism, turn your small piece of land into a home and your village into a flourishing city with an expanding sphere of influence. The days are bright and full of life and the nights are gloomy and creepy, not unlike being out in the woods for real. Medieval Dynasty is a survival RPG that manages to stand out in the oversaturated market that it occupies. Sound is good, the music is mostly tranquil and well done for a long, mostly relaxing session of city-building from the ground.

The way these are structured and presented makes it feel at times like the game wants you to treat it as an RPG, but if you do, the survival elements get in the way and you may feel like you are dropping the ball on the quest. Plus there are a lot of options that let you simplify the experience and lower the difficulty level, so you don’t need to be a hardcore survival games fan to have fun with Medieval Dynasty. The only thing that’s lacking is social aspect: Stardew Valley proved how important are neighbors for a farming game, but in Medieval Dynasty they’re just puppets with some basic needs and no actual character. Even though the constant backtracking might be a pain, I personally found the game’s slow pace relaxing rather than annoying and enjoyed my time with it. You can download and play this content on the main PS5 console associated with your account (through the “Console Sharing and Offline Play” setting) and on any other PS5 consoles when you login with your same account.

I like the game, but having to sit to close has the unfortunate effect of making me feel dizzy when moving around the landscape.

In Medieval Dynasty, you take on the role of a young man who has fled from war and wants to take his fate into his own hands. Simulation: Create tools and weapons, construct and extend houses, stables and all manner of buildings as you grow an empire.

And with the game additionally giving you the liberty to progress without doing the quests, you may find yourself, like I did, building ahead of your level or trying to figure out complicated mechanics in the hopes they’ll help you have some stability for you to finally do the quests that were meant to teach you said mechanics. But watch out for wear and tear because you don't want your pickaxe to become unusable in the middle of nowhere. With this, you are left with a survival experience with a steep learning curve unless you commit to the quests. Beautiful and realistic open world 3D landscape with state-of-the-art graphics, full 4 seasons with day/night cycle and realistic weather conditions. The PlayStation 5 version has now been updated so that it will run at 60 fps something it lacked when originally released. Medieval Dynasty does have a few short-comings, that I feel came from trying to over-reach on what the game experience was supposed to be, but in essence it accomplishes the mixing of two different genres into one slick gameplay experience for the most part.
