Description

Aged in traditional Sri Lankan Halmilla wood, every step in creating Rockland Ceylon Arrack receives the personal attention of our Master Blender. A traditional Sri Lankan spirit distilled from the sap of the coconut flower, using traditional methods and aged in Sri Lankan oak casks. Amaro Averna has a distinctive orange flavour and includes over 33 different herbs including cinnamon and gentian.

First written about in the 13th century by Marco Polo, Ceylon Arrack is still produced in a similar fashion today. The sap has its own natural yeast and starts fermenting naturally once collected and must be distilled within 24Hrs of being collected (else it would over ferment and turn into Vinegar). Arrack is likely one of the oldest known distilled spirits in the world, though its origins are long lost to history. This sap will naturally ferment in the heat of the day when it can then be distilled to make this unique spirit.

Uncompromisingly dry, refreshing and distinctive, Tio Pepe is the perfect partner for savoury nibbles, olives, fried fish, Spanish ham and of course tapas. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label. The recipe and method of production hasn’t changed in 1868 so each measure of Amaro Averna has a piece of history within. In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer. The skills that go into making this traditional “drink of gods” have been passed down through four generations and remain largely the same today.
