Description

It’s still Android. And if you’ve used Android already, you’ll feel right at home. However, compared to normal Android, there are some missing features. There is no split-screen view, for example. That means you can’t open two apps side by side, but the performance would be too weak for that anyways. RAM and Storage is also another department that is getting an upgrade and again has been doubled from the last-gen. The RAM is now 2GB, and the storage is 32GB compared to the measly 1GB and 16GB from before. Newer, Faster Android On the Lenovo Tab M7 runs Android 9 Go Edition. The Go Edition is a less demanding version of Android that does not require as powerful hardware.

Yes and No. The Lenovo Tab M7 comes in two variants. A WiFi-only model allows you to use the device with WiFi and an LTE model that can accept SIM cards and call other people. However, that model can get a little pricey and hence, we recommend the WiFi-only model. Does the Lenovo Tab M7 have GPS? Yes, the Lenovo Tab M7 can run and play games, but it can only run light gaming titles with a low-performance requirement. If you want to play high-end games, you should buy a better tablet for the job as the Tab M7 won’t fulfill your demands. Can we call from Lenovo Tab M7? The Lenovo Tab M7 has a 7-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 16:10. Even though the resolution is quite low with 1024 x 600 pixels, I don’t think that’s too much of a downside. Yes, you’ll be able to see pixels. But similarly priced competitors have the same low resolution and in the past, that was fine for everyone.

Software - Tablet from Lenovo with Android Go

Let’s get to its hardware and performance. Inside the Lenovo Tab M7 runs a MediaTek MT8321 quad-core processor. You’ll be able to choose between 1GB and 2GB of RAM, as well as between 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Well, these are the option in some countries. I’m using the version with 1GB of RAM and a 16GB internal storage which is the only one available in Germany right now. By the way, you can’t watch Netflix with HD resolution because the necessary DRM standards are not supported. In this case, however, that’s not an issue because we’re not getting an HD resolution anyways. Hardware & Performance By the way: According to the press release, the 2GB RAM version will be shipped with normal Android 9 Pie. Battery Life Case 1: Get the Tab M7 if you want to buy an affordable android tablet for your kids or a tablet for your family. It is cheap, and you don’t have to worry if your kids end up destroying it.

Lenovo did not customize the UI at all which is great. We’re getting pretty much vanilla Android 9 Go. In addition to those Google apps, there are a couple of standard ones pre-installed like a calculator, the camera app and a Dolby Audio app. But that’s it. The box of the Lenovo Tab M7 comes with a few things in it. It is lightweight, doesn’t take all that space, and includes the following:Both the devices come with a 7-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 600 x 1024, which makes for an equal apples-to-apples comparison. However, the Lenovo Tab M7 feels a little better with extra contrast and brightness making for better visibility and color reproduction. The performance in real life is as bad as the benchmark suggests. No matter what I’m doing with it, I notice smaller lags most of the time and often have to wait a bit until something is properly loaded. The Tab M7 comes with an octa-core chip that performs well for everyday tasks, media streaming, and a little bit of casual gaming, but the Fire HD comes with a quad-core chip that can’t keep up with the Tab M7. Case 2: Get the Tab M7 if you want to use the tablet for media streaming and light casual gaming. Do note light casual gaming and nothing more. It won’t be able to handle high-performing games.

Gone is the dated quad-core Mediatek MT8321 processor and replaced with the new octa-core Mediatek MT8166 or 8766 processor that literally doubles the score in all testing scenarios. Where the old processor scored 400 in the Geekbench score, the new one scores 800. In fact, the overall feel and smoothness of the device are also improved. Improved RAM and Storage It’s very disappointing that its performance is too weak for basic multitasking. During my time with this tablet, I never had the feeling of using something fast. Sure, you can surf the web a bit and watch some Netflix. All of that works. But you’ll see smaller stutters quite often and if something is not loaded immediately, it can be frustrating. The Tab M7 has quite a lot of potential. Its build quality is fantastic, and the screen and battery life are great at this price too. Both cameras and the speaker are bad but that’s to be expected. Its major downside is the slow processor and the 1GB RAM version. For about 10 to 20 dollars more, you can get much better performing tablets.
