This book is interesting in that we meet two police officers ,one of them only once as he verbally abuses Tim and the other is a single mom we see frequently who is mainly looking for evidence against Tim. Neither look for any other person to blame but Tim. They accuse him of killing everyone from Syd to the crazy ex-girlfriend to the guy who showed up dead in the dumpster to the thugs who tried to kill Tim at the car lot. They are beyond useless and essentially Keystone Kops who couldn't solve a case if you handed them a file with all of the evidence in it. Poor Tim has to try to solve the case with the help of only Susanne and her boyfriend Bob (who is jealous of him despite having more money) all while dodging police who want to drag him in to accuse him while he is following leads to hunt Syd.

Catastrophizing involves believing that you’re in a worse situation than you really are or exaggerating your difficulties. It can be a symptom of anxiety or depression.Years before I met her, I was served by her at a supermarket. I have a hearing problem and if I’m not facing or looking at someone when they’re talking, I don’t know they are talking to me. Well apparently while she was serving me she said hello and I ignored her. Something she took to heart and couldn’t forgive me for. Until we met several years later and she found out I had a hearing problem. That’s when she related this story and how she could forgive me now she knew about my hearing loss. A 2022 study found a link between fatigue and catastrophizing. As the researchers point out, despite fatigue being a disabling symptom, especially in patients with fibromyalgia, few studies have focused solely on fatigue. When Tim learns that Bob's 19-year-old son Evan recently came to live with them Tim becomes infuriated, convinced this is a recipe for trouble. Evan claims to know nothing about Sydney's disappearance but Tim doesn't believe him. Although phobias are common, they don't always cause considerable distress or significantly disrupt your life. For example, if you have a snake phobia, it may cause no problems in your everyday activities if you live in a city where you're not likely to run into one. On the other hand, if you have a severe phobia of crowded spaces, living in a big city would pose a problem. Tim Blake, a divorced car salesman in Milford, Connecticut, has his 17-year-old daughter Sydney living with him for the summer. Sydney has a summer job at a cheap local motel called 'Just Inn Time.'
