She rested her chin on her hands. “Gotta admit, I wasn’t all that excited to go out on my own. I’m only here for another couple of weeks and don’t want to end up a working-vacation statistic.” Gordain stiffened. With urgency, he ushered me towards the door. “Let’s get going. We’ll get to the heli and be away before the arsehole even registers you’re gone.” At eighteen, there's no way this lass is right for me. She's my best friend's sister and five years younger than me. But she's gorgeous. Confident. A musician who plays a violin like it's a part of her. Gordain grabbed my hand and slung the heavy bag over his shoulder like it was weightless. He kept me at his side, half dragging me out of the French doors. Ridiculous maybe, but only now, with my sweat cooling and adrenaline churning in my stomach, did I realise I was about to fly. The blades above our heads rotated, speeding up. The sound levels escalated to deafening proportions.

I shrugged, glancing away before it got awkward. “Sorry. No clue. And I still don’t think those girls are looking at you, no matter how big a star you are. I’m probably more famous.”

Oh, his tongue is in my mouth all the time,” Lou said sweetly, and Callum’s coughing increased. “I didn’t think he’d mind my germs.”

Got it. Though I could also go by the fact this one is a giant.” She thumbed at me. “I’ve only seen him sitting down or behind the bar. I thought he was standing on something.” This book begins with a moment from Vines’s second book, Love Most, Say Least (by the way, another great book in this series), when Gourdain, James’s (the hero from LMSL) best friend and a military pilot, saves James’s sister, Ella, from their raving uncle. From the moment, there is a driving, intense chemistry between the two. However, there are a couple of issues: (1) Ella is his best friend’s sister and (2) Ella is younger than Gourdain (her 17 to his 22). For most of the first part of this story, these two engage in the unrequited dance of chemistry, as Ella doubts that Gourdain could be attracted to her and Gourdan struggles with a personal crisis and issues related to this past (not to mention his worry over her age). However, as in any good romance, that dance turns into something more, and the two must make a choice about their future together.

I was not expecting Richard to be run over in the end. Talk about brutal! I was expecting him to go to jail or something, it was completely unexpected. I stared, agog, then switched my astonished gaze to Gordain. His muscles rippled where he lowered his arms. He… He’d…

Come on, Lacey,” my mystery woman murmured to the child. She pushed her wavy blonde hair behind her ear and summoned a tight smile. At most, she was twenty, maybe younger. “We need to get you to Manchester.” I didn’t fight my grin. “My fault. I was having a hard job speaking. No clue why I let ye carry on.” The British author Jolie Vines is well known for her interesting and entertaining style of writing that instantly grabs the reader. Mostly writing contemporary romance novels, she really sets herself apart, giving her readers exactly what they want, while saying something unique in the process. This has seen her become a household name for many around the world, establishing a brand that is very much her own. Drawing many influences from a range of different fellow authors too, she’s definitely an inspired novelist with a lot to offer. My violin. I’ve already got the contents of my parents’ safe. All the paperwork on my and James’s inheritance. A few priceless antiquities.” Excitement rippled over me, and I leaned in. “Richard will notice. He knows every piece of art, every vase. Our heritage is his world, and knowing I stole it is going to drive him nuts.”

There’s a few strands from the previous books, as it builds upon the overall world, creating plenty of arcs for long-term readers. Featuring the McRae Clan as well, there’s plenty of recurring characters and cameos from a number of familiar faces. That being said, while it does cater to fans, it’s also accessible to newcomers, with its central story being stand-alone and self-contained. I always pictured my brother's best friend to be impressive--after all, he's a military helicopter pilot whose job is to save people. Then he appears in front of me and my assumptions fly out of the window. She was familiar. Maybe from her Scottish tones, though we were in Glasgow, so that was hardly unusual. I gave him a punch to his bulky shoulder. “Glad you’re here. Want to talk about that cloud over your head?” She was entirely out of place in her rainbow skirt, where bright reds mingled with oranges, yellows, and rich blues. A burst of colour in a mire of grey.

The third instalment in the Marry the Scot contemporary romance series takes you away to big love in the splendour of the Scottish Highlands. You'll adore this modern-day hot Scot and his delicate and determined musician. The snowboarding party moved on, and I passed the cups to Leo before reaching for my bag and board. Amusement danced in his eyes. “Leo.” He put out a hand. “Leo Banks. I mean, just ‘Banks’. I’m meant to be using that as a stage name.” Developing her approach to the genre of romance over the years, she came to be a household name for many the world over. Using a lot of inspiration from her own life, she would create stories that felt wholly real, really capturing the imaginations of the readers. Currently still writing to this very day, she’s got a lot more to come, as she continues to write from her home in South West of England with both her husband and son. I held my breath. Gordain couldn’t just walk in here and grab me. Richard wouldn’t allow it. Then a memory hit me, and my heart gave an almighty thump.

Ella has finally broken out of her gilded cage, but with her limited life experience, she doesn’t trust Brodie instantly straightened. “Sorry, I didnae see Blayne had someone with him. I’m Brodie, this boy’s better half.”
