Exquisite' DR RANGAN CHATTERJEE ________ A guiding light in the darker months, Big Panda and Tiny Dragon is the beautifully illustrated and mindful journey of two friends through the seasons, inspired by Buddhist philosophy 'Which is more important,' asked Big Panda, 'the journey or the destination? A lot of the passages felt almost word-for-word similar, and the overall sentiment felt exactly the same. Feel the calming influence of Big Panda, who reminds us of the bigger picture while appreciating the simplicity of small moments. Written during the covid pandemic, the book is a collection of the illustrations that author James Norbury shared on his site (BigPandaandTinyDragon. His first love was animals and he studied zoology at Swansea University, wanting to become a park ranger, but finding a job proved impossible.Inspired by Buddhist philosophy and spirituality, the story of these whimsical characters makes the perfect gift for anyone looking for a little hope and comfort.

The two friends often find themselves lost but discover beautiful sights they never would have found if they had gone the right way. This graphic novel is just a series of drawings with some text, which ranges from silly to reflective, even poignant. Some people have even said they didn’t take their own lives because the pictures had given them new ways to look at things. however, when flipping the book to the back cover, was dismay to find a sticker pasted across the barcode, what was worse is when the sticker was removed, it showed the book was for sale in the indian subcontinent only at 799 rupees vs 25SGD paid for.

Otvoriti jednu stranicu dnevno, bit će sasvim dovoljno za uljepšati si dan, potaknuti se, sagledati situacije na drugačiji način, usporiti i uživati u životu. I’ve been reading one “season” (for the past 3 bedtimes) to my 6YO son, and the ensuing discussions—mostly from his “insights”—have been an unexpected bonding moment! I discovered James Norbury's creation a while back on Instagram by complete coincidence (I'm not a huge fan of social media so I rarely use the app) but I fell in love with the cute illustrations right away. There are some beautiful ideas covered such as the importance of living in the moment, the importance of helping others while helping yourself too, and the value of being a listener. We all have great wisdom deep down, but it can be a hushed voice and gets easily drowned out by modern living. Best way I can explain it is that if that book is for coffee drinkers, this one is for tea drinkers. On their way into the wild they often find themselves lost, and while not knowing where they are, they discover many beautiful sights they'd never have found if they'd gone the right way. While they sit watching a warm sun rise, it dawns on them both that a new day means a new beginning, and another magnificent adventure awaits .

James Norbury has been living below the poverty line but now plans to ‘get a house with some land so I can start a sanctuary’. but this one is contained of a journey (the reasons or destinations, were not quite mentioned) with small inspiring quotes. This felt nearly identical to The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy that I read and adored last year. One of the factors that really pushed this work forward was after I started volunteering on the phones for Samaritans talking to people who find it hard to cope with life. This is the uplifting, beautifully illustrated story of two beloved friends as they journey through the seasons of the year together, into the wild, exploring the thoughts and emotions, hardships and happiness that connect us all.
