Williams, Olivia (2014). Gin glorious gin: how mother's ruin became the spirit of London. London: Headline Publishing Group. ISBN 978-1-4722-1534-5. This small-batch Edinburgh gin makes a big statement. Fennel and Szechuan pepper are the most noticeable botanicals, though hearteningly for purists it still tastes like gin underneath. Alc 41%
Tanqueray No. TEN Gin | 47.3% vol | 70cl | Award-Winning
I waited a long time to try this gin since i do not like the original Tanqueray which has been in production nearly 200 years. Another small-batch Irish gin. Along with traditional botanicals, it has dried gunpowder tea in the mix – giving an unmissable aromatic profile and a dry, slightly tannic finish. Palate-cleansing. Alc 43% Tanqueray No. Ten Gin gets its name from being made in Tanqueray’s number ten still, also affectionately referred to as “Tiny Ten”. This small still was used as an experimental/trial run still at the distillery before becoming the key still for Tanqueray 10. There is a misconception that Tanqueray 10 gets its name from the number of botanicals in the mix; in fact, the recipe for Tanqueray 10 has all four of the base botanicals from Tanqueray London Dry: juniper, coriander, angelica, and licorice. Tanqueray 10 adds an additional four elements to the mix, including fresh white grapefruit, fresh lime, fresh orange, and camomile flowers for a total of 8 botanicals. One of the things which makes Tanqueray 10 unique is that it uses fresh whole citrus rather than dried citrus peels. Dried peels are used for the majority of gins on the market and very few actually use fresh fruit. It’s easy to see how these core elements work together. Alongside juniper’s drying pine-needle note, coriander seeds add a bright, shiny, high-toned citrus spice, the citrus peel brings a sweeter, mid-palate citrus lift, while the orris/angelica root hold the whole thing together with a gentle, drying spice/chocolate rumble. Tanqueray Rangpur Gin was introduced in Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2006. It has a strong citrus flavor, the result of rangpur limes, ginger, and bay leaves added during the final distillation process. It is produced at 82.6 proof (41.3% abv) and is now available throughout the United States and Canada. It is named after city of Rangpur from where the names of the citrus also came.I’ve tried them all in my search to find the perfect tasting Dry Martini. From Monkey 47 buzz to several creative botanicals chemistry. Tasted more than 20 gin options and in the end Tanqueray n°10 is my holy grail choice. If you want THE dry martini, it scores 10. Tanqueray No. TEN was the first ever gin to be distilled in small batches with fresh citrus fruit. This distillation takes place in a unique copper still called Tiny Ten. It produces a spirit known as the citrus heart which gives Tanqueray No. TEN its bright, elegant citrus taste Tang Ten remains one of my staple martini gins. It’s juniper forward without being overly hot on the tongue. Far preferable to Sapphire. Best enjoyed with premium tonic water, plenty of ice and a wedge of pink grapefruit, or with dry vermouth and a twist of pink grapefruit in a perfect martini. Palate: A mix of incredibly clean, spicy juniper, hints of Earl Grey tea and cardamom. Very citrus-rich.
Tanqueray No. Ten Gin | Master of Malt
It’s over-egging it to say that terroir has come to gin, but it’s undoubtedly true that a growing number of gins are now an expression of a place. Of course, ‘expression of place’ only works as a concept if the actual gin itself is good, and some ingredients need to be treated with care. A gin that tastes massively of lavender, say, or has strong vegetal aromas, might make a powerful initial impression, but – like a big fruit-bomb of a wine – you could well struggle to finish a glass.Nose: Perfumed, aromatic nose with notes of tangy grapefruit zest, creamy custard and clean juniper.

Expertly made, Tanqueray’s top shelf gin reads as slightly more classic twenty years later than when it launched. Classic gin fans will love the way the juniper is elevated by citrus. Contemporary gin fans will appreciate the way citrus stars without be coming one note. Tanqueray Sterling Vodka was introduced in 1989 and is available in both neutral and citrus flavours. Its main market is the United States.

[5] Products [ edit ] Tanqueray London Dry, Rangpur, and No. Ten Classic gin base supported by more than a dozen locally foraged Irish plants such as yarrow, daisies, watermint and woodruff. This is rather like lying on a summer hillside – a combination of sweet gorse notes, aromatic grasses and lemon balm. Complex and dry. Alc 41% Think of this gin as a tip of the hat to Charles Tanqueray, founder of the nearly two-century-old brand. It honors the man’s perfectionism, which is written all over his recipes and resulting work. Tanqueray didn’t just make spirits worth drinking, he made spirits worth savoring. TEN is one the late founder would be most proud of.
