It picks up right from the final scene of the previous book, as Evie proposed to St Vincent that they get married. I’ve read reviews from others who were really skeptical of Kleypas’s decision to make the last book’s villain the hero in this story. your romantic history, to put it politely, is like that of a dog who goes to every back door on the street, collecting scraps at every threshold. Plus it is clear that this environment is not as comfortable and cosy as the country manner we were in for the previous two books.

What a truly beautiful, romantic book, with so many sigh-worthy moments, so many humorous moments, lots of wickedly sexy dialogue. Evie is the real wallflower of the group, the only genuine wallflower that will hesitate to get involved due to her own anxieties and insecurities rather than social circumstances (though she has those against her too). In short, his characterization just didn't dig deep enough for me to fall for him in the way so many other fans have. May contain moderate to high sexual tension which could include passionate clinches that end in cut scenes and/or extremely mild love scenes with virtually no details.

Because of that, I could not understand why he had taken such extreme measures when by all accounts his charm and ravishing good looks could have gotten him almost any woman of his choosing. She makes a nice change of pace for me as a quieter character that takes more care and consideration before she acts.

Sebastian's impulsiveness even cost him a life-long friendship with Marcus, Lord Westcliff, and all of this made it seem like he cared more for money than people. She agrees to only one night of passion to make their marriage legal and binding, but no more than that. And recently kidnapped Westcliff's finance, Lillian, to force her to marry him because he wanted her dowery.

Ein wenig action findet sich ja am Ende irgendwie immer, aber hier fand ich die Geschehnisse besonders dramatisch.

Sebastian's discovery that he has unwittingly found an occupation that he both wants and is good at is so uplifting, while Evie, away from her ghastly relations, steps out of her shy and retiring nature, enough to give Sebastian a run for his money.Sebastian realizes quickly that he desires Evie very much, but with his reputation Evie won’t do more past the consummation of the marriage.
