The phone adaptors can be bought and used on any telescope. Taking pictures this way you are limited to bright things like the moon and planets, the moon is around in the evenings and Jupiter in the mornings at the moment. Rather than taking a picture to get the best results you take a short video then use the free software registax or autostakkert to merg the frames into a single picture of better quality by taking all the best bits. Celestron Inspire 100AZ refractor vs Meade Polaris 114mm reflector telescope: which intermediate telescope is best? The Inspire 100AZ refractor is a high quality telescope for those with beginner to intermediate levels of experience. The 100 mm Inspire is easy to carry and store, and is equipped with features heretofore unseen on entry level telescopes. These include fully coated glass optics, a sturdy alt-azimuth mount with a special asymmetrical design, a solid adjustable steel tripod with folding accessory tray, built-in smartphone adapter, integrated red LED flashlight, StarPointer Pro finderscope, erect image optics, and a focus micrometer for simple reversal to the same focus point.

Manual altazimuth mount with smooth, dual-axis slow-motion controls makes it easy to follow the on-screen arrows to your desired target. When the bullseye turns green, it’s ready to view in the telescope’s eyepiece. Award-winning and patented StarSense sky recognition technology uses your smartphone to analyze star patterns overhead and calculate its position in real time.

It also includes a professional grade red dot finderscope, a ninety-degree erect image diagonal, a foldable steel tripod with a max extension of 47”, a red light flashlight, an attachable accessory tray and access to Starry Night Basic astronomy software. Not compatible with #93648 Off-Axis Guider, not compatible with #93519 2" Mirror Diagonal (discontinued)

For this process to work, it’s important that your camera’s lens is aligned centrally with the eyepiece and the adjustable elastic straps on the dust cap make doing that easy.Next, the dust cap is placed over the eyepiece and held in position with two thumbscrews. In all of these things, the Celestron Inspire 100AZ Refractor performs well and is a great way to fool around and learn each in turn. What Can It See? The relative size and weight of all the components affect its overall portability. The mount will of course add to this. If a telescope has a shorter Focal Length it is typically more portable, but will require better quality eyepieces to ensure great views. Pros and Cons of a Refractor: All in all i cant find a bad thing about it. It seems ideal for a kid of 8. The Kellner eyepieces may not be the greatest in the world (it takes time to find out what works best for you) but they will do for now and work very well. As Doug said above, a 32-40mm Plossl eyepiece (1.25") will be a good addition and it will allow a wider view and make it easier to find your way around. As expected, bright stars showed some chromatic aberration but, generally, the correct star colours were observed – orange Aldebaran, the blue-white Pleiades and the lovely contrasting pair of Albireo were all accurately represented. For medium magnification, which might be overkill, a 15mm gold-line is a good option. It will provide 44x with the Inspire 100AZ, which is good for viewing a lot of moderately sized deep-sky objects. The SVBONY 15mm 70-degree is a bit more comfortable, sharper, and offers a wider field of view, and the 15mm Agena Starguider is also a great choice if you’re willing to put up with the expense.

Swarovski NL Pure10x42 review: sensational high-end binoculars for wildlife spotting and spectator sports The Bresser Messier 6” f/8 Planetary Dobsonian has a 2” single-speed Crayford focuser, double the light gathering power, and 50% more resolving power than the Inspire 100AZ, mounted atop a full-sized and sturdy Dobsonian mount which requires neither a table nor tripod to be used. Other 6” f/8 Dobsonians are also available if you are unable to obtain an Bresser Messier 6”. This is due to the rotation of the Earth. To compensate for this, you’ll need to periodically move the telescope very slightly to follow the object and keep it centered in the telescope. Although your smartphone camera already has a lens and therefore can’t be used at prime focus, light collected by the telescope can be projected into your phone’s camera by an eyepiece in a process known as afocal photography.Although this telescope and its non-motorised mount are not designed with astrophotography in mind, the Inspire 100AZ’s dust cap has a novel feature – you can strap a smartphone to it and then attach the pairing to one of the two eyepieces that come with the scope. For the most part you can add your smartphone with its case on, but if you have an extra large case you may need to take it off for it to fit the adapter. Additional Accessories

There are plenty of keen amateur astronomers who love watching the stars and know how to handle a telescope, but can't quite stretch to the price of a high-end device. Enter the mid-range or intermediate telescope. You'll pay maybe two or three times as much as you'd need to spend on one of the best telescopes for beginners (see our Celestron 21039 PowerSeeker 50AZ vs National Geographic Refractor 60/700 AZ guide for two great low-end options), but that will still fall short of the three times again that a truly range topping telescope will cost (such as the Orion SkyView Pro 8 GoTo vs Celestron Nexstar 8SE). Ideal for both terrestrial and celestial viewing. The optical tube can be used as a Spotting Scope for additional day-time use. Turn on “Save Images & Logs” from the Menu as described above. After you use StarSense Explorer at night, there will be images and log files stored on your phone. Accessing them requires connecting your iPhone to a computer that has iTunes. Follow these steps to retrieve the files: The Inspire 100AZ has a lens cap with a built-in smartphone adapter. Set your device up against the rubberized friction surface on the exterior of the lens cap so that the camera is observing via the imaging port. Two adjustable bungee cords help safeguard your smartphone. The interior of the lens cap features a fitting that fastens to your eyepiece using two set screws. This is all you need to take high power images through your Celestron Inspire 100AZ! The Inspire 100AZ telescope would be most suitable for younger beginners as the views and versatility would keep their interest going. Dust cap camera mount

Uranus and Neptune aren’t very interesting to look at with the Inspire 100AZ because it’s hard to tell them apart from stars, their disks are so small that you can barely see them, and their moons are just too dim to see with a 100mm telescope. Terrestrially, the telescope doubles up to be used as a Spotting Scope which will enable you to use it to enjoy when Bird-Watching, Hiking, or simple land-observations. Just use the provided Star Diagonal and you can easily erect your images.
