After stealing a spaceship to avoid the marriage Princess Delia knows she must make, hoping for true love instead, she discovers a thief stowed away on the royal ship. This was a really fascinating idea, to simply swap the genders of major fairy tale characters, and somehow by doing this the stories felt completely new, despite nothing else being changed. While fairy stories have been rewritten countless times to make them more palatable to changing tastes, this is the first experiment to revisit the originals with a purist gender reversal, leaving the text otherwise untouched. With more moms working and taking leadership positions whilst fathers are working at home, it’s nice to have a version of fairy tales that better reflects our contemporary life. Overall, this is not the pioneering work I thought it would be and in my opinion, swapping the genders didn't change the way I see these stories or alter my view on gender as it applies to these fairy tales. This book is great for breaking women out of the sexist stereotype, of needing a man to save them, only being good if they are beautiful, but I do not think it should be the only fairy tale book on a child’s shelf.

Jonathan and Karrie (husband and wife) have a daughter whom they wanted “to grow up in a world where little girls can be powerful and where little boys can express their vulnerability without anger. Fairy tales and folklore have been around for so long that we have become accustomed to their often sexist nature.I guess that might make this more of a role reversal than a gender reversal, but seeing as how their respective storylines are completely flipped on their head by this shift, I think it is still in line with the way in which a gender flipped retellings reimagined a classic story. Because this one doesn’t have a specific release date in 2022 yet, we’re still a bit slim on the details. Travelers Along the Way is the story of two sisters, Rahma and Zeena al-Hud, stuck in the Holy Lands during the Third Crusade. The sons are now servants doing housework, and the daughters are working out in the field, which makes one aware of how gender is constructed.
