His subsequent career ranged from sculpting celery on a Caribbean cruise ship to running the crepe stand on Brighton pier, before he hit on the plan of bringing his unique Diner cuisine to the people of small town Britain, starting out with Uckfield. We often take our vistors for Breakfast to Maxim Diner, as the quantity and quality of the Breakfast is second to none. Chris Nye gets plenty of fun out of the deeply ordinary and is particularly good on the drink-fuelled undercurrent of malevolent violence which is rarely far below the surface in English country towns. A bit rambling and directionless, but mildly funny and with a lot of charm, but maybe I only find it charming because I grew up in Uckfield, during the Maximum Diner years.

Join Christopher Nye on his hilarious journey to become the self-styled Rocco Forte of the Road to Eastbourne. A great humorous and honest read full of the (pretty much every) pit fall and mistakes its possible to make in a small catering business.
