I can’t imagine anyone better equipped to dive into this project than Del Toro, and he certainly doesn’t disappoint. Yet despite the visions that greet me every time I shut my eyes, etched as they now are upon my very soul, I can’t help but recommend this film, and I have done so to several people already. that immediately grabs you with its odd compositions, interesting color choices, and of course visceral subject matter. He had always wanted to direct a feature length stop-motion film, and the genesis of Mad God started around 1990, when he shot a few minutes of footage after finishing work on RoboCop 2.
