First script reading took place May 1, 2013 at SBS Production Center in Tanhyeon-dong, Ilsan, South Korea.

As always the plot was interesting, with the attention to detail superb. The supporting cast was wonderful, the pacing fast and this author writes some of the best action scenes in the genre. However Nina and Eddie are really both starting to get on my nerves, the books are starting to feel a little recycled, and none of this is a good combination. If I am being honest, no matter how good the first two books in the series were, I was a bit afraid of this one and as I read on, I was becoming more worried as chapter after chapter unveiled things I did not think of imagining. I was really worried about 60% in as to what was actually going to happen. I was just worried that after such a good run so far, it would end on not so good note. Ali recognises this woman as one of Kaveh’s employees, and says as much. Muntadhir and Ghassan become angry with Ali and send him away. Ghassan shows up where Nahri and Kaveh are imprisoned. He says he has sent Jamshid away, and he always knew that he was a Nahid. Kaveh and Ghassan argue about Manizheh, someone they really should have been over by now, while Nahri catches up with what’s been going on. Muntadhir takes cousin Tariq, the slaver, to see Ali for compensation. Ali rightfully refuses, and causes a scene. Two weeks later, Nahri, Ali, and Subha scope out the hospital. Ali hints at something awful having happened there. Other than the battle where all the Nahid’s and daevas died… There wasn’t one character I didn’t feel for in some way. Nahri is our protagonist that tries her best, but is struggling with identity. Ali is devout, rigid in his beliefs, and always attempting to do the right thing. Dara is strong, passionate and stubborn, with a relentless loyalty to those he loves. I won’t give a blurb for every single character, but Zaynab, Muntadhir and Jamshid are also completely captivating. Throughout all three books, Chakraborty explores themes of family, both who you’re related to and that which you choose for yourself. The final chapter in the bestselling, critically acclaimed Daevabad Trilogy, in which a con-woman and an idealistic djinn prince join forces to save a magical kingdom from a devastating civil war. Golden Empire" takes over the SBS Monday & Tuesday 21:55 time slot previously occupied by " Jang Ok-Jung" and will be replaced by " The Suspicious Housekeeper" September 23, 2013.

Ali finally goes to see his mother, Hatset, and Zaynad. They admit to being behind the plot to bring him home. Hatset finds out about Ali’s scars and what happened in the lake, and she promises to help. Meanwhile, Ali has been exiled for daring to defy his father. Hunted by assassins, adrift on the unforgiving copper sands of his ancestral land, he is forced to rely on the frightening abilities the marid, the unpredictable water spirits, have gifted him. But in doing so, he threatens to unearth a terrible secret his family has long kept buried. Unfortunately, Shannon’s attempts to display the inner-conflict with regards to his love and loyalty for his Banu-Nahida on one hand and the fact that she is clearly going bat-shit crazy and genocidal on the other, often just ended in him doing contradictory things that kept robbing me of getting on board with his redemption. On a number of occasions, he commits a terrible act only to immediately lament the shedding of further blood and sowing of more fear… And then does it all over again. Chakraborty writes a winning heroine in Nahri — flawed but smart and engaging. And her portrayal of the cultural conflicts in the magical city of Daevabad and of Ali’s inner turmoil is compelling and complex, serving as a strong counterpoint to the thrilling action. null Washington Post on The City of Brass I have so much I want to know about their lives at the end but I also love the ending. I could talk about this book forever, there is so much more I want to say but I don’t want to spoil anyone so this will have to do for now.Manizeh, Nahri’s Mommy Dearest, is doing her best to win friends and influence people, for her opposition. The body count in Daevabad is considerable, helped along by Manizeh’s incapacity for politics, and a mega death-dealing field commander in Dara, who would like nothing more than to follow his own conscience, but is his will truly and fully his own? Ali and Nahri pitch the hospital idea to Ghassan. He agrees as it’ll look like a promising joint effort between tribes. Nahri asks Jamshid to work with her. Muntadhir doesn’t like the idea at all. Nahri and Ali go to see Doctor Subhashani Sen, who is a shafit who heals her people the “human” way. Nahri wants her to help rebuild the hospital. Subha is reluctant and says they need the king’s permission before she agrees to help. Smart. Lee, Sun-min (27 June 2013). "Promoting Empire of Gold". Korea JoongAng Daily.
