Being a FreeviewPlay device, the T3-R has a number of TV catch-up apps that let you stream content via the internet. Sadly, they're mostly negative, which is not helped by how Manhattam as a company completely ignored my feedback and seem unwilling to make improvements to their software. Connecting the T3-R to the internet is essential for using its FreeviewPlay and streaming features, and that can be done either with an Ethernet cable (connected directly to your router or via a Powerline Adapter) or via WiFi (802b/g/n). Apart from the problems that I encountered above, picture quality is ok, not fantastic as what my TV shows. The catch, of course, is that you get far fewer channels and streaming options than those competing boxes.

It also comes with an excellent and ergonomic ‘learning’ remote that can ape your TV’s remote for commands like standby, input changing and volume.
