It is a positive and uplifting read that is not afraid to highlight some of the challenges of the therapeutic process, and I read all 153 pages in the bliss of a seaside escape! Toad goes to see Heron, the local counsellor, who is a gentle, kind, thoughtful, serious yet confrontational person, the type of person one would hope to meet in a counsellor. I read this every year without fail and if you have ever had a problem in your family about who is bossing you about and how to get through this as an adult then have a read. The therapist in the novel was also interesting to see, it was interesting to see a counselling session be adapted to the life style of the wind in the willows. A must-read for anyone approaching counselling for the first time, whether as a student or as a client, or for the professional counsellor looking for something to recommend to the hesitant.

This is a joyful book to read – a clever pastiche of Graham Greene’s Wind In the Willows it explains the principles of Transactional Analysis in a way that more ‘technical’ books on the subject can’t reach. His good friends do not understand that people with depression can lack motivation and physical strength; and even eating can be difficult. For example, if we plan to go hiking with our friends, and they tell us before we set out that they have to cancel, we may feel upset.Badger would usually criticize Toad's fashionable clothes as being bizarre, and accuse Toad of lacking self-respect. Now I have some distance from that time this little book with its powerful metaphors has proved helpful in helping me recast the whole experience. I also found the counselling methods he had to be interesting to read about and his character definitely reflected that of a counsellor. Although I found the ending (of the therapy) a bit abrupt, that too seemed like it probably could accurately depict how things could go.

Dù không hiểu chính xác chuyện gì đang xảy ra và nguyên nhân, nhóm bạn vẫn quyết định thuyết phục Ngài Cóc đi gặp Ông Diệc - một bác sĩ tâm lý. Not just because it is an extremely clever Kenneth Grahame pastiche, but because it actually explains counselling as a method of dealing with psychological distress with admirable clarity. The original characters were stretched a bit to fit the authors narrative, and he did contradict himself a couple of times, but it was very enjoyable and a nice conclusion to the original story. Based on the characters of the Wind and the Willows, it explores the concepts and ideas behind transactional analysis. The theory is described clearly yet convincingly through the client/counsellor relationship with plentiful uses of metaphor, good humour, and irony that make us smile indulgently, not only at Toad but also at ourselves at times as we recognise some of our own frailties.manages to be not only instructive and, at times, extremely amusing, but also to remain remarkably faithful to the cheery, bucolic spirit of the original. The 5 AM Club by Robin Sharma is a life-changing book that shows you how to make the most of your mornings and transform your life. He has lost so much weight that his plus-fours, which had once fit him well, look like two potato sacks covering his thin, shriveled legs.

For over 25 years Counselling for Toads has provided readers with a warm and engaging introduction to counselling, brought to life by Toad and his friends from Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows .When we understand which life position we chose and the three ego states, we can shake the hand of our past self, rework our own life script, and live a self-led life. Someone who chooses the “I’m okay; you’re not okay” position often holds a status of power and authority. The author cleverly uses Toad's experiences and his developmental journey during the counselling process to convey and explain these theoretical concepts in a comprehensive and easy to digest way. Through these experiences, we form our own particular view of the world and our unique way of looking at things.
