iO models command a price premium, particularly when you factor in replacement brush heads. You don’t need a premium model to clean your teeth well. Oral-B has added value to the iO9 by including two additional brush heads for a total of four. The iO8 meanwhile, now comes with three brush heads in total. The Series 5 has 5 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense & whitening) compared to the 4 of the Series 4 (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive & whitening). The extra mode the iO5 has is intense. The iO3, 4 and iO5 have a yellow light that illuminates in the centre of the cleaning mode button. The handle will vibrate too. In terms of quality and efficiency, is it similar ? What are the major differences ? Is it a big difference of price for the heads ? Reply

It sits upright on a countertop and gives a home for spare and replacement heads. A removable opaque cap protects them whilst allowing airflow inside to dry wet bristles. iO combines Oral-B's unique round head with the gentle cleaning energy of micro-vibrating bristles.

The iO3 and 4 are the main exceptions though. No case comes supplied with the standard model. But there are variants where this is supplied.

What I’m still confused about is what Oral-b call ”s” and ”n”. I can’t find any explanation anywhere on what the difference is between iO6s and iO6n…. Reply You could look at the Genius X. This doesn’t require the smartphone camera to be used. Works like the iO but a little less glitzy and feature rich. Note that some connection types require you to use a communication module (plug-in eg a RS232 card) or communication bridge (external device eg Internet Bridge NT). Not all types of connection are possible on each device. You can find all the details related to this topic in your device's Comprehensive guide or Communication guide. Models that connect via Bluetooth to an app will report the active mode within the on-screen timer.

A brush head should be replaced after about 3 months. After this, the bristles clean less effectively and are more abrasive on the teeth and gums. There may also be an increased amount of bacterial build up. Hi Eileen. The iO Series have their own range of brush heads and don’t use the normal head from Oral-B. They are not interchangeable. Reply Recommended data cables: BELDEN - for shorter distances: 3105A Paired - EIA Industrial RS-485 PLTC/CM (1x2 conductors); for longer distances: 3106A Paired - EIA Industrial RS-485 PLTC/CM (1x2+1 conductors) INTERACTIVE COLOUR DISPLAY signals vital information: including brushing modes and head replacement reminder, greets you as you power up & givesyou a smile for a job well done

Just wanted to thank you for the in depth review. I do find Oral brand very confusing, It feels like they are flooding the market to ensure customers are as confused as they can be so they either buy the most expensive or the cheapest. Hi Tamara. Just to be clear, we are not the Oral-B team. We are a separate company and have written about their products.

Oral B Oral-B has gone above & beyond to create a brushing experience that’s in a class of its own. Beyond purely an advance in technology to incorporate world-class engineering - enabling the most thorough, gentle and quiet clean of your life. Beyond design to craft a genuine object of desire – creating a sleek look reserved for the most sought after technology. Sure, when you go from a manual brush to power – it upgrades your clean. But when you go from electric brushing to iO it goes beyond the ordinary to become a truly extraordinary experience that you will see, hear and feel differently. Of course, the table and quoted prices are just a guide. The actual selling prices vary from one retailer to another. All of the iO Series brushes have a 2 minute timer, pacer and pressure sensor. These are the key features that dentists recommend.

Although both have 5 cleaning modes, they are different. The iO5 has daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense and whitening, whilst the iO6 has daily clean, sensitive, intense, whitening and gum care. The iO5 has super sensitive whilst the iO6 has gum care.If you buy the iO7 in the USA, the power adapter you get with the brush supports 110-130v and has a 2 pin US power adapter. You will need to source a voltage adapter and plug adapter to use this in Europe. The iO Series are the only ones from Oral-B to be quieter, all other brushes produce the same noise. Reply Each ComAp device usually allows for multiple ways of connection. The simplest one supported by the majority of our devices is the RS232 (serial) connection. For this, you need an RS232 cable (null modem) and if your PC is not equipped with an RS232 port you need a USB<->RS232 converter. My experience and my dentist said don’t be to tight with the toothpaste, put plenty (many don’t put enough).
