The idea of "leys" as paths traversing the British landscape was developed by Alfred Watkins, a wealthy businessman and antiquarian who lived in Hereford. Thus the ancient wisdom at the basis of leys is encoded within the land for future generations to discover anew, if they possess the vision. What is fascinating about the position of the three conical mounds – Bryn Gawr, Tothill and the original Llandin – is that they form a perfect right-angle triangle to within one degree of accuracy. Though it is easy to dismiss the Ley Lines, it does at least offer a way for amateur archaeologists to engage with London's history and get outside and have fun. And, perhaps most importantly, London's Ley Lines offers ideas on how to do a ley pilgrimage, because ley lines are better understood through experience than through reading even the best book on the subject.

Crawford filed these letters under a section of his archive titled "Crankeries" and was annoyed that educated people believed such ideas when they were demonstrably incorrect. From the 1940s through to the 1960s, the archaeological establishment blossomed in Britain due to the formation of various university courses on the subject.

London's woes are probably more due to the eccentricities of this ancient city and the fallibility of those making changes. John Chaple though is open minded, but he doesn't think London's Ley Lines are made by aliens either. Thus the ancient wisdom at the basis of leys is encoded within the land for future generations to discover anew, if they possess the. She also believes how people do this is very personal so she offers an array of modalities that can open up and enhance your intuitive and psychic skills. Although often hostile to archaeologists, some ley hunters attempted to ascertain scientific evidence for their belief in earth energies at prehistoric sites, evidence they could not obtain.

When asked about the idea that UFOs had carved them out, he said: "Some of the long distance ones are difficult to explain and go over the Pacific so it's difficult to know how they would have done that. The oldest example of a temple laid out to this design is Stonehenge (whose megaliths were raised 3,500 years ago). Along the route there will be areas to sit while Gemma talks but please make sure you have gone to the toilet and have everything you need with you as we cannot make extra stops.Together you will explore how London came to be, we will travel through history to understand the city’s connection to Egypt, the Romans and the Age of Enlightenment.

Like others of its kind, the connotation with ‘white’ refers to the mound as a place of veneration of the Light, the Sun. London's leys can lead you to magical places, to the soul of the city and to an understanding of the hidden unity which connects our ancient sacred sites to each other and also links our spiritual dimensions to theirs. The Incas used "spirit-lines" or ceques with the Inca temple of the sun in Cuzco as their hub, marking the routes with wak’as, stone monuments that represent something revered. So I decided to walk from the entrance of the Silvertown tunnel… to the monumental stone circle at Stonehenge, and see how I could connect them. It is filled with ley lines, sacred wells and deeply significant ancient sites which today are the locations of some of London’s most important tourist attractions. Contrary to this, the modern western world pivots towards individualism, capitalism's bed fellow, leaving many feeling lonely and lacking connection to place and community. This is meant to be a circuit diagram of the forces of creation at work within the land, representing the soul of the city and its spiritual dimensions.

It wasn't until after the World War Two that the potential of the ley line as a repository for all things mystical really started to take hold. To assist this growing body of enthusiasts who were looking for their own ley lines in the landscape, in 1927, Watkins published The Ley Hunter's Manual. His critics noted that his ideas relied on drawing lines between sites established at different periods of the past. The vertical vector created by various horizontal vectors crossing at that point is the location where the stone was located. Ruggles noted that in this period, ley lines came to be conceived as "lines of power, the paths of some form of spiritual force or energy accessible to our ancient ancestors but now lost to narrow-minded twentieth-century scientific thought".The tour will go ahead in all weathers, therefore please make sure you arrive in comfortable shoes, with a bottle of water and clothes that match the weather.
