If your fountain doesn’t have any water plants, you can always add a small amount of chlorine to your fountain. We’d only recommend using one to two tablespoons, every two to three weeks during summer and the warmer spring weeks of the year. Ensure your pump is turned off when adding the chlorine. Note: DO NOT USE in water systems with fish, plants, and other aquatic life. WATER FOUNTAINS THE PROBLEM Both of these can be applied with a toothbrush so that you can get down to the deepest parts of the pump without issue. You can also use pipe cleaners. Refill With Distilled Water If you’ve had a cheap plastic garden pump for a couple of years, we’d suggest upgrading to a high performance garden fountain pump like this one from Pentair. Not only are you likely to have less technical issues, but you will also guarantee higher flow performance for a much longer period of time. Change Fountain Water Once Per Month

CLEAN FOUNTAIN When the pump is completely covered, your brand-new water is ready to begin the circulation process. Turn it on, and after a few moments, the fountain will run just as it did before. This indicates that the pump is in the proper location. Keep the Fountain Clean by Keeping the Water CleanYou can also scrub any extra decorative items clean with a sponge, making sure that they don’t have any invasive algae or dirt that may damage your progress. By using this tool, you can slow the growth of the inevitable green and keep your fountain crystal clear for longer. Use A Cover The best kind of water to use in your fountain is distilled. This works best because it’s pure water. The pump has an easier time pushing it through, so it will last longer and keep your water cleaner for a more significant amount of time.

The first step is to turn off the water pump inside your fountain. This is important to ensure that water doesn’t spray everywhere when you start cleaning. You also need to remove this pump, along with any other small decorative items that you might have inside. Empty the Water from the Fountain This small precautionary step goes a long way, helping prolong the life of the water pump. It’s important in the general upkeep of your centerpiece. Replace Your PumpUse at 1:30,000 (1 ml per 30 litres) to protect clean water from algae and green water (single-cell algae) contamination. Treat weekly-monthly depending on local conditions.

Fountain safe water feature cleaner, Non-foaming and safe to use on all types of materials like stone, resin, metals, including stainless steel and brass. Remember to rinse down and remove any residue left on the surface of the fountain with a garden hose and a pair of old, clean bath towels before refilling. Learn to Clean and Replace Pump Filters You can pull out these things by hand, but if there seems to be an obstruction deep inside, it might be best to use a homemade solution to clean it. This will remove any unreachable obstructions and clear the way for proper water circulation. As well as unsightly algae contamination, water can contain other harmful organisms. ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY FOUNTAIN CLEANEROnce you’ve completed this step, you should be able to see the grit and grime leftover in the base. We’ll look into the removal of this in the next step. Scrub the Fountain Clean Nature's way is if there is a food source, moisture and sunlight, something will grow, as there are always trillions of spores in the atmosphere waiting for their opportunity to germinate. Water pumps often become clogged with dirt, leaves, and other natural debris that come with the outdoor location. This leads to poor water circulation, in turn causing the liquid to turn a lovely shade of brownish-green.

Next, we need to get rid of the remaining excess. TYPICAL QUESTIONS The best fountain and water feature, total water sterilisation and protection against algae and green water in all water recirculation systems, Shelf life of three years. You should ensure that your fountain water is changed at least once per month. We’d also advise using distilled drinking water instead of regular water from a garden tap, as tap water could already be contaminated with bacteria. If you don't mind preventing all biological growth, you can also opt for chlorinated water. Existing Features: Empty feature and remove any dirt or algae by scrubbing with a solution of hot water, detergent and 25ml of Fountain Clear. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dose as above. For features containing over 100 litres (22 gall) of water, use 50ml each time.
