You can adjust the trigger points for air on and then spray - you may have it set so the spray control isn't open wide enough.

Not to belabor the point but it's not the engines you want to look at - it's cars that were treated with the old oil. And old oil drips off, or out of the chassis via drain holes, sits on the road and causes motorcyclists to crash.Apparently you should never use used engine oil to rust proof a car - something about the oil being acidic after being in the engine.

I've been playing with my new underseal/waxoyl injection gun from Machine Mart, and found it to be excellent for spraying cans of underseal onto the underside of my old Land Rover. Different steps go into the process of undersealing a car or van however they are all very simple DIY tasks if you are physically able.

What then is undersealing? The best underseal is a tough paint formulated to offer protection to the bottom of the car or van, inside the wheel arches and other parts that are not normally seen but are exposed to salty road conditions. As underseal technology has improved in line with the life expectation of new vehicles, the factory finish on vans now includes a robust protective layer of underseal to the chasis, floor pans, mounting points, sills, inner arches etc. Brand new and boxed Air Operated Underbody Coating Gun. Trigger type gun comes complete with flexible hose attatchment making it ideal for use with waxoyl rustproofing products or 'SCHUTZ' cans alike. i've tried that. lowering the pressure on the shutz guns without restricting the inlet gives quite a lumpy texture if i remember. restricting the suction and keeping the pressure up give a nice factory looking finish.

I'd try heating - the oil viscosity changes a lot with heating. Though be careful with pressure as the tins go pop much above 90psi and you'd not want to be sprayed with hot oil. Thin it a bit more maybe. You can either use a paintbrush, aerosol or spray gun to apply the seal. Make sure you mask off areas which shouldn’t be covered – especially the brakes. Protect the exhaust too – although it’s not disastrous if it is coated, the heat will burn the underseal and it will smell unpleasant. It’s also worth covering the paint on panels you will see, as overspray is difficult to remove. It’s also a good idea to treat the inside of box sections such as chassis rails and sills. A different type of chemical is used for this, or other underseal products can be made thinner with white spirit to make them easier to spray or inject into these inaccessible places. How to apply underseal If you want to preserve your car and ward off the welder, it’s a good idea to invest in some underseal or other rustproofing. This is especially advisable if you live near the sea, regularly drive on rough roads or have had an advisory on an MoT for corroded components. Getting to them earlier will prevent further expensive problems down the road. Do you need car underseal?

What worked for me was to use a thinner uplift tube so he suction has not as much waxoil to lift, I did this by pushing a thiner tube up the shultz tube to make it narrower,

There is the option for using a professional to rust-proof your van’s underbody, and the cost for this will obviously be higher. Professionals will use specialized tools to facilitate the rust-proofing process and will usually have access to a hydraulic lift to raise the vehicle. This will also usually use a compressor with spray gun to apply the product.
