I had difficulty putting this book down and really felt like I have spent the last few days with her documentary team in the Alps. I enjoyed this latest Karen Swan book more than some of her recent books which felt like they were lacking in detail and story compared to her earlier books and that they were being churned out to meet publishing schedules. There is no doubt that they detest each other but the tension is complicated by a burgeoning mutual attraction.

I love Karen Swan’s Christmas books with their glamourous locations and complicated characters who you ultimately warm to as the book progresses.

I enjoyed this winter romance (be warned: it has more of a winter feel to it than Christmas) and the enemies-to-lovers trope was well written. Her documentary on surfer Cory Allbright is winning awards around the globe for shining a spotlight on life after his tragic accident. I found it difficult to put this book down, admiring Clover’s bravery and wondering how there could possibly be a happy ending to this tumultuous story.

It was just a bit weird that everyone - even kids - knew perfect English and used British expressions and „slang terms“. I've read a lot of romance where the lead couple's interactions were literally 99% of the story and it still wasn't enough to make me fall in love with them. It's dislike at first sight but boundaries become dangerously blurred as Clover finds herself drawn into Kit's power games. Now that Kit has been labeled as the bad guy, he has decided to retire from surfing and make his debut into snowboarding.

The general atmosphere will suck you in before you know it, and you will find yourself completely immersed in this glamorous and sporty world. This opinion is brought to you by someone notorious for disliking romance, so be prepared to add a star or two if you're into this sappy stuff. But as she delves deeper, Clover finds herself both drawn to Kit, and even more convinced he’s hiding something. And as a former competitors, I have met many Kit’s in my life, and I can completely understand the determination to be the number one, and the arrogance that sometimes comes with it.The burgeoning tension between Clover and Kit is so enticing and neither of them are prepared for the passion that results. Clover is an award winning documentary maker, currently riding high with her documentary about Cory, a champion surfer who had a terrible accident that ended his career and changed his whole life, due to the actions of fellow champion surfer, Kit.
