The scent transports you to a perfect world of optimism and wonder. Unfolds on your skin with a fascinating blend of tropical wetness, zesty freshness and bursting floralcy\". However, they should have retained the original rounded tear-drop shape for the larger sizes and the beautiful rainbow colours for all sizes. This was one of the first perfumes that I would steal from my older sister when I was very young. I was instantly attracted to the bottle itself and the actual sent is stunning. My go to is floral and this has all those wonderful aspects including a tropical vibe. I also remember loving Mambo and Liz Claiborne Bora Bora when I was that age. I was so excited when I got my hands on 2 vintage bottles of this. Unfortunately both of them have that rancid smell, but I can still smell what made me fall in love with this as a child. I am considering testing this at Macy’s to see how the new version smells. Unfortunately I never seem to see this on the counter. I am hesitant to blind but and add yet another perfume to my collection if it is not going to smell like I’m hoping. My comparison hasn't ended yet (into my 2nd hour) but so far I love them all and would rate them as

Citrus are not detectable, which is a plus: men stuff, in my humble opinion, the colognes full of them. There's an edge to it: fruit one can hardly identify, and yet perceive. It is a moreish, fresh and yet warm fragrance; an olfactory contradiction in fact. If you like strong florals you will love Beyond Paradise! If you are reading the word Paradise as Tropical as in coconut then move right along as there is nothing to see here!!!! So, I'm guessing they changed it for economic reasons and/or because Aerin prefers minimalism (or thinks we do); not because things go off sooner in pretty bottles. This is a gorgeous fragrance on those it suits and who can fully appreciate its delicate, prismatic beauty. Several months ago I read online about a mini-conspiracy theory relating to The Guide which can be neatly summarized thus: This perfume was originally sold in a distinctive rainbow bottle, which gave you an idea of what to expect from the fragrance. Beyond Paradise is so intensely tropical that the fragrance from the near colourless juice within the new simple, nondescript bottle is almost startling. This has a very crisp smell when initially sprayed and is quite overpowering! I thought it was opening with my dreaded flower the Jasmine as it is pretty strong - but I was wrong and it is a mega blast of hyacinth and I am a great fan of this flower however, od'ing on it though can cause headaches!

I felt awed and out of place but nevertheless made my way to the Estee Lauder counter regardless, and traded my card for a pretty light blue velvet pouch the sales assistant handed over with a smile. I waited until I returned home to open it.

Currently popular on idealo

As long as it dries down, it gets warmer, and it's always very exotic. It's a really contradictory perfume, as it's warm and fresh at the same time, dewy, wet and creamy. Extremely tropical, like nothing I've smelled before.

I feel Beyond is a well conceived addition to the family of 'the transparents', EL perfumes that were created around the same time, Beautiful, Pleasures, White linen and Intuition. The 90's were a change in direction for perfume which was sorely needed, a new era, a fresh approach... I enjoy real flowers and I like smelling of them (sorry Luca Turin) but still, Beyond Paradise is very good. It lasts well, it was utterly unique when it came out, and if it has suffered, it’s because everyone imitated it. I can’t smell it “fresh” because it spawned many similar scents. And, in the 10+ years since its release, I've smelled it everywhere - it is really popular. Initially, I detect refreshing lemon and trace amounts of grapefruit...the hyacinth, orange blossom and bergamot working highly effectively in unison. I can identify the oiliness also. The opening is the special and 'spectral' feature of BP. This was the biggest disappointment that I have ever experienced with an EL fragrance. As an avid gardener, I am extremely familiar with hundreds of floral fragrances. I could not detect anything in this scent that has a botanical origin. This is one of the most synthetic plastic alien smells that I've ever encountered. Bizarre seems to be the best word to describe this fragrance.I had already looked at the notes and I was intrigued by them, as I usually love jasmine and hyacinth. It is one of those scent you capture on a woman passing by, a flowery, green whiff of distant, exotic lands which keeps you wonder what, what on earth she's wearing?

The original rainbow bottle is definitely beautiful and unique. The new bottle is very boring with not a dash of color. I am pretty positive Estée Lauder switched a lot of their perfumes to this new boring design because the vintage ones seem to go bad. There’s something with the Estée Lauder line where I have noticed the vintage perfumes go bad and smell “off”. With them switching to newer style bottles I am able to tell the age of the perfume. Both of my Beyond Paradise, Intuition and Beautiful vintage perfumes all went bad. Estee Lauder must use the same ingredient in a lot of their perfumes, because when it goes rancid I can smell it in all 3. It’s really a shame because Beyond Paradise and Beautiful are amazing classic scents. I, previously, rated it as a Like, rather than a Love, as I tend to gravitate more towards creamier/buttery, vanilla-rich, all-white tuberose-based florals, with sweeter fruits than this, like peaches and apricots. There were other scents I couldn't place, which may have been the orris root (not yet sure what this smells like... is there an orris-root based perfume anyone can recommend?) I was a young teenager (a freshman, perhaps) just discovering makeup and teen vogue. I remember acquiring a card for a free mini sample of "Beyond Paradise" from my Estee Lauder counter at a department store in the mall.

Never the less, I continued about my day, went to sleep that night woke up to the most beautiful smell laying next to me...I look up and my cat was there.I sniffed but she smelled the same as always! Where was this gorgeous bouquet of unusual, slightly green, floral scent coming from?Got up to make coffee & as my arm moved to put the coffee on, I smelled a flower I never experienced coming from me...A feeling of expectations of Wild grown flowers I may run into if I took a trip to a tropical Island...(minus any coconut one expects from a tropical island, thank God!don't care for coconut) That is exactly what everyone that smelled it on me asked. It's a full blast of flowers; not at all unpleasant if you like them! And very unlike fresheners, although in these days room fragrances have evolved into masterpieces themselves. If I had to sum up its essence in one word it would be suave; in a happy, sunny, very exotic and romantic way.
