Cleats with Firm Ground soleplates are only to be used on natural short-grass surfaces that is firm underfoot but may be slightly wet. The knit upper is reinforced near the sole so it does feel like you are wearing high-performance boots rather than a high-performance sweater. They are incredibly light and feel fast when you put them on. The knitted upper won’t be for everyone. I found it a little tight for my wide feet whereas a team-mate, with narrower feet, felt they were very comfortable and secure. Boots with Firm Ground soleplates are only to be used on natural, short-grass surfaces that are firm underfoot but may be slightly wet. Designed specifically for this playing surface, they offer acceleration, comfort, and enhanced traction, dispersing stud pressure evenly across the foot. FG soleplates are fixed (not removable) and are used worldwide; wetter countries tend to use them spring to autumn. FG boots are not to be used on artificial ground (AG) surfaces as the construction is not designed for the extra friction. Using FG boots on AG surfaces will invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty.

Selecting the correct sole plate for the surface you are playing on is crucial, not only for the performance and longevity of your cleats, but also to avoid the risk of injury. The clue’s in the name with the Future: it’s a boot designed to push the boundaries of what’s possible in football, maximising your agility so you can make match-winning plays.

Very effective on most surfaces aside from very muddy, which isn’t what you would expect from an SG boot

Best Rugby Boots 2022 - For backs, forwards, kicking, speed

It’s impossible to write a list of the best rugby boots without including a pair of Kakaris. They have consistently been some of the most popular boots among pros and amateurs alike. What should you look out for in a boot? Most boots will be specified as either soft ground (SG) or firm ground (FG). There’s no getting away from it, they are very expensive. Puma has other boots in the range (Ultra 2.4 and Ultra 3.4), which are cheaper while still offering some of the same features All five have wowed spectators wearing perhaps the most iconic boot of all: the PUMA King. Having been tweaked and refined over the years since its introduction in 1968, the King’s now available in a lighter, more streamlined design that’s engineered for modern playmakers. The studs were more than grippy enough for a Manchester pitch in July after some recent heavy rain. Unless you had particularly poor underfoot conditions you could probably wear them year round.Pro:Direct are working in partnership with our carriers to reduce the impact on our environment with low, or zero carbon emissions in the last mile delivery to your door. Last year’s boots, recommended by Rugby World, are available for up to 75% cheaper than the latest Kakaris That lightweight construction also doesn’t ignore protection. Puma say the upper has Matryxevo carbon yarn technology and a microfibre speedcage. What that feels like is a firm, but flexible, upper which deflects all but the most insistent stud. FG cleats are not to be used on artificial ground (AG) surfaces as the construction is not designed for the extra friction.

The Malices are comfortable immediately out of the box thanks to the soft cushioned inner. After about 30 training sessions and 12 matches I can confirm that they remain as comfortable as ever. Designed specifically for this playing surface, they offer acceleration, comfort and enhanced traction, dispersing stud pressure evenly across the foot. FG soleplates are fixed (not removable) and are used worldwide; wetter countries tend to use them spring to autumn. The Adidas Malices come highly recommended. These are the boots I’ve chosen to wear for the last couple of seasons. Our testers noted genuine improvements in their speed. The lightweight construction really does encourage you to accelerate and jink and dart where you please For traction, the third-gen Future Z retains the Dynamic Motion System outsole that’s proved so popular with players, enabling fast, agile moves thanks to its lightweight design and strategically arranged half-moon studs. Tried and tested by thousands of pro and amateur feet over the years. You are guaranteed a quality boot
