Description

Turning Adaptive Contrast to Low amps up colours and black levels, but higher settings have an impact on detail. Bass is lacking but that is to be expected with a TV speaker system, but the soundstage is wide and dialogue is intelligible at all times.

The button placement is intuitive and everything you need to control the TV and change settings is all well laid out and easy to find. Finally, the soundbar offers good sound quality which is a step up on the normal speakers on TVs in this sector of the market. There are also instances of intense blooming present when bright objects are against a dark background and once again this is a limitation of the FALD technology and local dimming.

Blacks are good but we did find that there was quite a bit of crush introduced when viewing in the dark which was less noticeable or apparent in a well-lit room. If you’re after a TV that supports the latest picture and gaming features: There’s no Dolby Vision IQ, no Filmmaker mode, no HDMI 2. Despite achieving some success last year, the Chinese manufacturer has opted to ditch OLED for 2020, but claims its cheaper ULED technology is more than a match, particularly when it comes to contrast. If you are looking for an everyday living room workhorse that has good gaming performance, nice design and decent SDR and HDR viewing in a bright, normal living room, then the Hisense U8QF is a compelling proposition.Blooming, weak wide angles and average black levels persist, but if you can’t stretch your budget far for premium options then the U7QF comes recommend as a budget focused alternative.

There’s no support for silly acronyms such as VRR and ALLM, but the Hisense’s performance is quick at 10.But even among these disappointments, it is still possible to appreciate that Hisense has got plenty right with this TV.

So, just like the U7QF, this set is best used in a normal living room with some ambient light present. For fast-paced action or sports games, input lag of less than 20ms ensures quicker reaction times can be replicated onscreen so you can stay ahead of the competition.Slight movements of a head, the type of which are frequent in any film or TV show, cause this TV issues.
