She recounts her life from childhood, to teens, into adulthood through a mixture of short stories, spoken word, illustrations, and space for the reader to reflect. All in all, not my cup of tea, if the author concentrated more on the story and less time ‘trying’ to be funny, I would probably enjoyed it.

Some women even took the tweet as a sign it was time to retrain themselves to stop saying it, which of course is a good thing; the " confidence gap" between men and women in the workplace is real, and there are plenty of very legitimate reasons why we feel less confident.

She has has had enough of people taking advantage of her and decides that she is going to stop saying sorry for a year and see what happens. The various elements that make up this book balance each other perfectly, and not only make it a gripping read, but give more insight into Galustian’s personality. Some topical issues dealt with superbly and a good mix of characters, including ones I loved to hate. This is a memoir that showcases what it is like growing up working class and queer, dealing with grief and finding yourself and being true to you. Having to ask someone to move their bag from the train seat so I didn’t have to stand up for two hours. Thanks Soph for the heartwarming, sad, heartbreaking, happy, funny af page turning, comforting read! With her unapologetic pledge off to a tricky start, will Charlotte be, dare she say it … sorry she even started this? What they seem to have overlooked is that Boomers fought for the equal rights subsequent generations now take for granted. The present day narrative is interspersed with Charlotte's childhood diary excerpts, providing context about how and why she became a people-pleaser.

Leadership and career coach Adrienne Partridge agrees that my tweet contains "unnecessary people-pleasing language". In many ways, we’ve been cowed by orthodoxy, by decorum, by the way things have always been done, even if they don’t actually work for anyone anymore. She learns the value of ‘sorry’, if you’re too busy throwing the word around like confetti, it loses it’s meaning.I’m currently holding on for dear life and surely moments away from a gruesome death, so I will need confirmation on this ASAP as my demise is imminent. It's too bad there isn't some form of cable network in Ireland that allows a little more freedom in content.

If you’re prone to unnecessarily saying “no worries if not”, the chances are a few other linguistic habits have also crept into your vocab. She recounts her life from childhood, to teens, into adulthood through a mixture of short stories, spoken word, illustrations, and space for the reader to reflect (or draw tits… whatever you prefer). We want to make room for women to make their own rules, create new routines that truly serve them, and shake off the old pressures. Through her writing, Soph comes across as bubbly and entertaining to be around, but also warm and kind, warning you when she’s about to tell you something heavy, and (quite literally) holding space for you to process any feelings her stories might have brought up.

Many of us suffer from a deep sense that expressing our emotional or practical needs will be a ‘burden’ to others, says Dr Paidoussis-Mitchell. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. inflecting their voice upwards towards the end of the sentence with uncertainty, instead of “I have spent a lot of time perfecting the art of Italian cooking and spaghetti bolognese is my speciality”.
