At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills.

Likewise, panel after panel of Othello’s turn to violence and his enraged face obscured by shadow provide a poignant dramatic effect but seem to exacerbate prejudices inherent to both the play and medium. As someone a little older than him who still only has the barest ideas of what I want out of life, I really, really related to the road to self-discovery he goes on throughout this graphic novel. From the very beginning of this clever adaptation, effort is made to prioritize accessibility of both the manga form and the classic Shakespearean play: The frontmatter briefly highlights the reading direction of the panels, and characters are labeled when introduced, coming to life via a striking combination of early modern Venetian dress; quintessential manga hairdos and facial expressions; and pronounced linework. I was skeptical at first because with comics where they are just one color aren’t normally my speed, but this illustration style brought something new to each panel. This quiet romance/coming-of-age story uses a leisurely pace to tell a familiar tale, made distinctive by the bakery setting and activity of bread making. In addition to creating the popular webcomic George and Johnny, Savanna's artwork has appeared in notable publications including Jem and the Holograms, Adventure Time Comics, and Lumberjanes. Excerpts and links may be used, provided that full and clear credit is given to Casey Carlisle with appropriate and specific direction to the original content.

I was honestly worried that my e-copy of Bloom was malfunctioning and it took me a while to figure out that.Author Panetta’s story is baked to perfection: a crush that turns to infatuation — and later love — in the confines of a professional kitchen bristling with hot stoves, stuffed shelves, and perfectly shaped spanakopita. Ari has no idea what he wants other than to escape what he considers to be the confines of his family bakery business for a creative life in a more culturally fertile metropolis. Hector, on the other hand, was almost too good to be true and I honestly think he could probably have done better than Ari. It feels forced to create a decision point, and that story manipulation isn’t in keeping with the slow development, as with dough rising, that permeates the rest. As the summer goes on, the two find themselves learning more and more about each other, the world, and themselves, all while baking bread, muffins, and more.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. For Ari and Hector, the focus is on their lives and struggles and letting their love bloom in a sweet and simple way. The aquamarine colouring marries with protagonist Ari’s depression and the seaside location, and the artwork is beautiful. Being that this is a romance comic, the argument presented within the text and illustrations is at times lost within the love story. It’s something I struggled with as a jerky teenager and I’m much happier being on the other side of it!Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids.
