As always, we’d recommend a wired connection for the best sound quality. This streamer is capable of playinghigh-resolutionfiles of up to 24-bit/192kHz, upsampled to 384kHz, through the USB type B input for your computer, along with optical and coaxial inputs. Also included are a pair of RCA and balanced XLR outputs, along with two digital outputs. A short digression here: quite often I have found a CD copied to CDR via either a pc or a dedicated SCSI duplicator to sound better than an original, example Chandos 9785 Organ and Orchestra in Liverpool Cathedral. With the CXC there is no difference between a copy and original. I don't pretend to be an expert in computers, but it seems to me that the interpolation routines and reading ability of pc's are usually better than those of most CD players. This difference was not only heard on the Jolida but on two Meridian players also. Communicate with you; marketing and advertising; personalise the Services; improve the Services; business operations; with your consent Marantz are often looked down upon because they’re a Japanese manufacturer and because their products often include features that purists consider to be superfluous (tone controls etc). Some think badly of Cambridge gear, purely because A) their products, in the UK at least are distributed by partner company Richer Sounds, and B) because their claim to fame used to be the manufacture of exceptional budget equipment. Many believe that such companies are not capable of producing credible high-end equipment, and sadly are more than happy to share that view with others despite them having no direct experience with the products or brand in question. The CXC can play only the discs recorded in the CD-DA format designed for music reproduction. Do not attempt to play a disc containing other data, such as a CD-ROM for PCs with MP3 or WMA files. Loading and unloading discs

The CXC replaces my Jolida JD100 player which has done duty for many years without any problem, but what was a plus (valve output) and warm output is not what I want now. Having got used to sound via a hard drive into the DAC, I was looking to take out the colourations from my player plus perhaps upgrade the data reading ability. The Jolida does have a digital out, which was used to compare directly to the CXC. This belatedly as I only twigged to the digital out from the Jolida after I had bought the CXC. My excuse is that the Jolida had been buried in my hi-fi unit for years at the bottom of the pile... To assist in any disputes, claims or investigations relating to your Cambridge Audio product or warranty matters; The differences I heard when comparing playing CDs on the CXC to playing music stored on my Synology NAS to the Pi 4 and converted to Coax out by the Denafrips IRIS II DDC were, for all intents and purposes, not worth mentioning. I’d have been hard pressed to know which was which when listening to the exact same music that was playing from the CD or playing from the file I ripped from that very same CD. They sounded, through the Denafrips ARES II DAC, more or less identical. When it comes time to listen to music, how we listen, through what medium, directly effects our experience. Radio, streaming, serving, records, cassettes, and discs, each offer up a different kind of experience. As such, they each offer a medium-specific connection to music. But this reality is often overwhelmed by notions of sound quality, as if CDs and LPs are at war with one another, and as soon as we leave the room and turn out the lights, the real fighting begins, with CDs smashing LPs and vice versa. And this is a fight to the death, where there can be only one winner. If you’re the kind of listener who’d prefer to just pop on a CD and enjoy it from start to end, the way the music producers intended, then you’ll be fine with the included remote.

Once you have loaded a disc to the CXC, press the ‘Repeat’ button on the remote control once and press ‘Play’ to repeat the entire disc. ‘Repeat All’ will appear on the CXC display until the function is turned off. Give you control over the personal information we hold about you to ensure it is accurate and reflects your preferences. Here, you will find two connectivity options with this CD player. One is for output, and one is for input. The ports include 1x S/PDIF Coaxial, and the second one includes TOSLINK OPTICAL. You can easily connect your DAC with this CD player and listen to the music through it. However, you cannot go with this for having any wireless connectivity. We also ensure that our staff are adequately trained in protecting your personal information. Our procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we share your personal information with you. Streaming features UPnP, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, internet radio, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready The old Denon was liberally festooned with controls. No so the CXC. The front panel is adorned with just six buttons, plus the tray and display. The buttons do what you’d expect: on/standby, eject/load, play/pause, stop, skip reverse and skip forwards. A bit surprising to me is that none of the buttons work – specifically the eject button would have been useful – to wake up the player if it’s in standby. You have to press that button first.
