Before he died, it seems, Felix Vodyanov was linked to a passenger ferry that sank in 1994, an even earlier U. Now I appreciate that for those of you who have stayed with me this far, there's nothing too surprising about this romantic development. When his brother Peter turns up dead with a strong suspicion of suicide, law student, Jack Mullen decides that it is time to figure out what really happened. As it unfolds that his brother was involved with some of the richest women and men in America – in ways Jack never imagined – his dream of justice fades.

It’s hard for me to admit, but in the start, I was more invested in his destiny, than finding Peter’s killer. I could feel de Jong's influence a bit on this one as some sections had rambling characters and a feeling of just running on, which is rare for Patterson in his short and concise sentences and chapters. Patterson is not necessarily one of my favorite authors, but I decided to give one of his books a go again, as I had nothing else to read in the house. The rich man has a shady past and some evil strong-arm associates who can intimidate witnesses, or even make them disappear. The backlash creates a determination to punish evil and the investigation continues as the balance swings back and forth between the bad guys and the good guys.

You feel Jack’s helplessness, bitterness against the law system and you just can’t wait for him to teach the bad guys a lesson.

A week after the night she chases but fails to catch a mysterious trespasser outside her town house, some unknown party texts Tempe four images of a corpse that looks as if it’s been chewed by wild hogs, because it has been. Why I have this opinion is because the society already has a stigmatized view that having a close acquaintance with the patients may result in becoming a patient ourselves. Jack’s relentless crusade puts him into a head-on collision with one of the most powerful and ruthless men in New York, a man who wipes out resistance with a snap of his fingers. Maybe it's because I haven't read a James Patterson book in a while, or maybe it's Peter De Jonge's influence (I haven't read anything by him before), but this story didn't impress me the way most of Patterson's novels -- especially the Alex Cross stories -- have.

Jack feels his brother could never have drowned because he was a strong swimmer and knew the Atlantic since childhood.

Peter was the darling of the townies in the Hamptons and also of the super wealthy summer time residents. The Beach House is a breathtaking legal thriller of deceit and revenge-with a finale so shocking, it could only have come from the mind of James Patterson. Jack’s mission is to right his brother’s name and legacy, get behind the police coverups, and to breakdown the barriers that millionaires and celebs seem to have in this town. As Jack tries to uncover details of his brother's last night, he confronts a maddening barricade of lawyers, police, and paid protectors who separate the wealthy summer residents from local workers like Peter. By the end, fans may start to miss Alex Cross, whose presence could have given this flyaway story some weight.

The second that Columbia law student Jack Mullen steps down from the train at East Hampton, he knows that something is very wrong. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Describes a book or dust jacket that has the complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. I read the reviews before I bought it, and although some of the reviews found this to be an excellent read, others were not very complimentary. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.I did not really c are to read to the end because the story never felt scary or creepy or like much of anything. Read how Jack and his crew of friends, the average working class, confront the wealthy and uncover secrets that will shock you and leave you perplex. Jack Mullen is in law school in New York City when the shocking news comes that his brother Peter has drowned in the ocean off East Hampton. On one hand, Peter had quotes like this where he’s so surprised by this relationship development, and on the other side, he often forgets about his brother, because his focus is on Pauline and that didn’t sit well with me. The story itself was disturbing and so unbelievable -- A rookie lawyer, alongside his grandpa and buddies, kidnaps a bunch of wealthy Hamptonians who are responsible for his brother's death.
