Author notches up 100,000 book sales in just two years". Morpethherald.co.uk . Retrieved 2 February 2016. LJ Ross is an internationally bestselling author, whose books have sold over 7 million copies worldwide. Most GR readers regard this as the most slapdash in the series, but I enjoyed it a little more than Holy Island, possibly because I was more prepared for the style of the book. Tikriausiai trumpiausia Inspektoriaus Rajeno serijos dalis iš tų, kurias man teko skaityti. Ir čia jau 14 Ross darbas! Matyt, sunku neišsikvėpti tiek kuriant apie tą patį veikėją ir jo tiriamus nusikaltimus, nes būtent tokia man ši knyga pasirodė - šiek tiek suskubėta, šiek tiek "tas pats per tą patį", šiek tiek nuobodi.

Local lass LJ Ross tops the charts with thriller Cragside". www.morpethherald.co.uk . Retrieved 21 October 2019. I thought there was too much emphasis on the home lives of the detectives. The sheer improbability of them all living and working with their partners has become far too cosy, and would not be allowed in real life (I know it’s fiction, but it still jars).

When an army exercise in Otterburn ends with the death of a civilian, DCI Ryan and DS Phillips investigate alongside the army. While they are investigating, Mac and Samantha carry on with their holiday. Struggling to find a killer that is hiding in plain sight, while navigating small town politics and pagan rituals that muddy the waters, romance is blossoming between the two tortured souls, threatening to slow down the investigation. “Sycamore Gap”, the second novel in the DCI Ryan series of novels is an excellent novel about the adventures of the handsome and troubled Detective Chief Inspector Ryan. Set on the historic Holy Island otherwise known as Lindisfarne, “Holy Island” is a gripping novel that introduces Detective Chief Inspector Ryan. Ryan has retreated to Holy Island to recover from a tragic case that had a particularly bad effect on his psyche. A few days into his sabbatical, the tranquility is broken when the body of a young woman is discovered abandoned on the ruins of the nearby monastery buildings. Her eleventh novel, The Infirmary, is a prequel story to the DCI Ryan series and is available as a major Audible Originals audio-drama starring Tom Bateman, Kevin Whately, Bertie Carvel, Hermione Norris and Alun Armstrong. After the birth of her son, Ross wrote the first draft of Holy Island, having been inspired by the atmospheric beauty of Lindisfarne, an island off the northeast coast of England she knew well from childhood. [12] Following its success, she now writes full-time. The second book in her series of DCI Ryan novels, Sycamore Gap, is set in Hadrian's Wall country [13] [14] and subsequent DCI Ryan novels continue the Northumbrian locations, with stories set in Northumberland, County Durham and Newcastle.

Before she sits down to write a book, LJ Ross writes a rough idea, and then she tries to write the blurb for the book. If she can do it, the book is a go. But if she can’t even define a proper blurb, she knows she has to move to a better idea. For her research, the author visits many places in the areas where her books are set. Some of the inspirational authors for her novels have been Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Jim Thompson, and M. M. Kaye. There is a feelgood aspect to this book which I really enjoyed also. As the author herself says (in a much more eloquent way than me!), amongst all the bad stuff going on in this world there are many people doing a little bit of good in their own little way. This helps to restore my faith in humankind. While she will always be a northerner at heart, she currently lives with her husband and their son in Bath on the outskirts of London where she spends her days writing her detective mysteries. Ross loved books from a very early age when she would find old books from her mother’s chest that she would staple and illustrate during her middle school years. Even as she has a varied taste in the types of novels that she reads, and will not mind reading the odd women’s fiction or a romance. How are we on the 14th book in the series already? What a series it’s been to. Even though the 14th, this can easily be read as a standalone. Midgley, Dominic. "50 Shades of self-publishers: Fame and fortune through publishing yourself online". Express.co.uk . Retrieved 2 February 2016.

I love the main characters in this series and enjoy how their relationships develop throughout each book. Her husband also has permanent recognition on every book cover in her choice of attribution as a tribute to his support. The second initial in LJ Ross stands for her husband James, while the first initial is for her first name, Louise.
