Attaching all the branches can be a pain in the rear. I recommend starting from the top and working your way to the bottom, with the base pieces left off. Generally, you want to have the smaller branches toward the top and the larger branches toward the bottom. Dry fit the branches before you glue them on and find out which branches you want to go where, you should aim for a nicely shaped crown with the leaves and branches spread out evenly.

Anyway, for this step I glazed in some thinned down Murder Scene from Army Painter’s Speedpaint range in a 50:50 mix of that and Speedpaint Medium, but this works just as well with something like Volupus Pink from Citadel. I also use this color on the skin tone I have to make the area the tentacle is emerging from look more like muscle. Emma: This colour is all about punch, it’s so bright and powerful. Doomfire Magenta straight out of the pot gives you a vivid pink for cloth or magic spells. It also suits Daughters of Khaine or Escher Gangers if you want some cool pink hair colours. For their carapaces I used Karandras Green and applied Doomfire Magenta to their fleshier parts, while claws were painted with Blood Angels Red and the visible brain-like parts had Frostheart applied to them. I went old school on the basing and used a layer of Armageddon Dust which was then painted over with Warboss Green , washed in Biel-Tan Green and drybrushed with Niblet Green. Charlie: Custom Splinter Fleet Lizzie: Like many, painting yellow has always been a challenge for me. Not any more! Imperial Fist, alongside Ironjawz Yellow and Bad Moon Yellow, provides the perfect solution to your yellow painting needs. Emma: Baal Red is a pure, bright red. It’s versatile and easy to blend with other Contrast paints like Magmadroth Flame. I have used it for gemstones, armour plates on Orks , and plasma effects on Chaos Space Marine weapons.

Step 1: Undercoat Zenithal White

Follow up with a thin highlight of Temple Guard Blue . On the tongue, this is the chunky highlight. Stippling here looks quite effective. They were finished off with another highlight by mixing in Screaming Skull to the Tuskgor Fur. The Gold

When gluing, you might want to use super glue, as it sets much faster than plastic glue. Here is some advice on using superglue to achieve the best results. Put the tree sideways, attach a single branch, and let the glue set and cure completely. Then, turn the tree by 90 degrees, and attach the next branch. Work your way from top to bottom and most importantly, be patient and let the glue of each branch dry completely before you move on. I learned this the hard way, as half of my branches fell off as the glue hadn’t set yet… All of the ropes and leather straps on the model, including the grip on the weapon and shield, were tidied up with Wraithbone, before getting a coat of Gore-Grunta Fur. And there’s more – all Citadel Colour Shades have been reformulated to make them even better, seven more have been created, which we’ll be taking a look at next week. Plus, we’ve also perfected white spray paint, making it easier than ever to undercoat your miniatures. You’ll notice I went and painted all the skin before touching the tentacles. This wasn’t by accident. Tentacles are often an accent that you want to pop and stand out drastically from the rest of your scheme, as such getting an idea of what the other colors that will be present on the model gives you an idea of what will pop next to it. In this situation, since I’m painting with yellowish bone armor and reddish hues in the skin, I wanted something closer to purple and blue. Green would probably have worked here too, but I wanted to accent the skin with that color later.
