I grew up with the world at my fingertips but no freedom to make my own choices. Everything from what I wore to who I became friends with was meticulously planned out for me.” It starts off innocent enough, just flirting, but then she kisses me and tells me she wants to spend one night with me. Because so much of the story was told from Adeline’s POV, I didn’t feel like I really knew Elias. 🙁 In The Sinful King, we have Elias’ story, the future king, his path is set. And one night with Adeline changes all of that. A woman he can’t really have or have a future with. But there’s something more between them, it’s undeniable, so how will they make it work?

Elias has delicious memories of the one night he spent with Adeline Bouchard but it will be years later that their paths cross again. The King is dying and Elias is the heir apparent. This is something he has been groomed for all of his life and as part of his succession it is imperative that he finds a suitable wife to rule alongside him. Marrying for love is not important, appearance is everything. POV: kind of dual POV (but mostly from h POV). As mentioned above, The H POV is not introduced until chapter 25. 🤨 This book is a dream come true for all lovers of modern royalty! I can't resist love stories about princes and commoners and Claire Contreras brought to life one of my childhood fantasies. The Sinful King is an enchanting story of epic love and it utterly and completely swept me off my feet. With the perfect amount of tension, sweet moments, angst and sinfully hot scenes Claire made me unable to stop reading this book even for a second! To shield me from the chaos, my parents consistently sent me away during those summer months, first to summer camp and later to boarding school. It was a deliberate effort to keep me distanced from the royal family and their excessive partying. For all my grievances, I will say that the epilogue was lovely. I loved that Elias bowed to her at their wedding ceremony, with the whole world watching, and his final quote: Marbella held a notorious reputation for the debauchery that surrounded Prince Elias every summer. The stories echoed through the town, impossible to escape for anyone with ties to this glamorous coastal enclave. My family owned a row of cottages near the water, and each year, the prince and his entourage would descend upon them, turning the peaceful retreat into a hub of wild revelry. You may also like The White Hare by Jane Johnson If you had any ties to Marbella, it was impossible for you not to have heard the stories about Prince Elias and his debauchery. I was starting to get irritated about the single female POV, but then at Chapter 25 I finally got Elias' POV. I was happy his thoughts were finally included, but would have preferred it happened much sooner. The story is set in modern times with a royal family in France. So it felt a bit disconnected and I feel it would have been better to have this set in a fictitious country. It was was distracting because I kept thinking...but France doesn’t have a king 🤔🤔

Also, I'm looking forward for Aramis and Pilar's turns!!!! And i might have a good idea which their significants ones will be. Or maybe not!!!! They were both trying so hard, but both struggling to fight their love and my heart broke a little for them. “The more time I spent around Adeline, the more I found myself wanting to twist things and do the wrong thing because in my head and heart she was the right one to do the wrong thing for.” The circumstances are weird the least and she is being forced to meet prince Elias over and over again... In twelfth grade I faked an injury to avoid going to prom by myself. He took pity on me, dumped his original date and escorted me to the dance where the spurned girl dumped an entire pitcher of red punch over my head. The only thing I knew came from the contents inside my bag. A wallet, a student ID, a key that opened an unknown door, and two notebooks. The whole Spain-France thing was a bit weird. It didn't make sense. Why didn't the royal family summer in the South of France instead of Marbella??? And you can't drive to Versailles from Marbella in two hours. Or from Paris to the beach in Spain in two hours. They think they’ll elbow past me, that I’m here for their amusement, for them to walk all over, they’ll find out soon enough that I’m not. From the royal romances that I’ve read, I’ve generally loved every single one of them. But this one really gives it all on the emotions. I was not expecting that at all and it might be one of the most emotional books I’ve read by Claire, well maybe after the Hearts series. Even though this story has all the elements of a classic fairytale with the prince making the common girl fall in love with him, it’s perfectly realistic with imperfect and fascinating characters. Claire Contreras is a New York Times Best Selling Author who traded her psychology degree to write fiction. Don’t worry, she still uses her knowledge on every single one of her characters. She’s a 2x Breast Cancer Survivor, who was born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Florida, and currently resides in Charlotte, NC with her husband, two adorable boys, and French bulldog. The Sinful king by Claire Contreras You’re missing out on all the events you dreamed of putting together because you’re scared of a little gossip.”

He is cold and detached to her and she is assuming that he has no idea that she was the girl that night...

I try to snap out of it, but I guess I’m not as smart as I thought I was. No matter how many times I remind myself of the times I’ve practically thrown myself at him and he’s pushed me away, I keep falling little by little. He was the kind of man that was exactly everyone’s type. Tall, broad shoulders, dark hair that he seemed to just let do its own thing, and its own thing was a perpetual state of sex hair.” Ouch....mom was a bit harsh here - “In their court, you’re nothing but a jester, someone for them to befriend and then discard. Don’t forget that.” The following words/phrases were used to describe Prince Elias: handsome, soon-to-be-King, arrogant, most eligible bachelor, notorious playboy, jerk, good looking, dreamy, gorgeous, charming, charismatic, powerful, kind In college, I faked being in a relationship with him to get him out of a bind with a classmate. Most recently, I faked a proposal, an engagement, and wedding date.
